Open unpaid item case is opened & I have to wait 30 DAYS for a fee refund?

why is a buyer allowed a month to pay now?  It seems like I'm going to end up paying the fees and THEN I get a refund.  It's almost like eBay would like me to forget about the transactions, which could easily happen.  Fortunately, I have a calendar on my phone and I can ask Alexia to remind me but 30 days is a bit much....

I don't know what you are seeing, but there are many glitches running around these days.

You can open an Unpaid Item case after 48 hrs has elapsed from the listing end, and you can then close that after 96 hrs has passed from when you opened the case.

You should get your refund then.

castle isn't there something about sellers who allow combined shipping sales over multiple days? That Ebay delays the closing of the UID because the seller is presumably waiting in case a buyer buys multiple items over days.

or is there an issue if sellers set up the automated UID, and somehow check off a very long time for closing?  (or eBay somehow sets it up and/or changes the seller's settings)

When I filed it, I got a sentence stating I could close the transaction on July 25.  It's okay, I guess.  I wrote it on my calendar on my phone so I won't forget but it seems kinda stupid.

tyler@ebay  This is the second report today of issues with UPI's have dates a month out.  Is this an error or is eBay "testing new features" again?

I never heard of having to wait 30 days.  A seller can close a UID 96 hours after it is opened if the buyer hasn't paid giving the buyer a strike and the seller receive his FVF back.  Unless they've changed things without notice or one of eBay's famous glitches is controlling things.

That's a great point, Dog, great catch.  That is possible.  OP can change that then by going into the option that allows multiple items over x amount of days and change it as it sounds like he has it set to thirty days right now.

I am not sure but I think these two are closely related.  It could be an either or situation, I think, but hopefully more will weigh in on this.

OP, go into site preferences and check the time you have selected as to how long buyers can keep buying as allowed by you, and also check the UPI Assistant as it sounds like you are using the automated UPI and may have it set to a month.

Otherwise, the time line I laid out earlier should apply and you may be able to close it 96 hrs after you opened it.

The message actually said you have UNTIL July 25th to close the claim otherwise it will time out and you won't get any refund.

Non-payment claims can be closed after 96 hours at the earliest (presuming buyer doesn't pay) and 30 days at the LATEST.
