I am helping clean a house of deceased relative, borderline hoarding situation. We found 6 iphones, 2 are active ones. It was a struggle to close the phone account, but are dealing with the phones now. I was able to reset to factory settings 2 of the phones using itunes and have 2 others that are reset but ask for AppleId and password to restart.
the phones are SE and iphone 6, and are in like new condition with no scratches or dents, so i think would be worth something for the bodies or cameras.
so is it OK to sell the locked phones under the Parts Only/Not Working heading. It is certainly true they won’t work without the AppleId.

I've sold several in that condition with no problems. I always make it clear that the phone has an id lock on it and show a picture if possible. Ones in good condition are always in demand, mainly for the screens.

Yes it's ok to sell them as non working for parts only. I would point out the password issue to be safe.

If you choose to sell the 2 locked iphones even under the for part/repair category you must accept the risk the the buyer MAY open up an Item Not as Described Return. Parts and Repair are still covered under the Ebay MBG unfortunately. You will be forced to issue a return label and refund. Your no returns policy does not mean no refunds.
Why?
Buyers may not fully read understand the listing description even if you describe perfectly, OR overestimate their ability to repair the phone. If they do open an INAD, there is no arguing, begging, pleading or reasoning with Ebay. You have been warned.
If that is an acceptable risk to you then go ahead and list, if not just sell the 2 trouble iphones to a local phone dealer for cash.

Or, as with all electronics that are being sold for parts... they may take out the small part they need and send it back with you being none the wiser.

Thanks. I will try to sell them. I agree i can get a return and the item is not in same condition. Unfortunate risk for tech sales. I mostly sell back to Gazelle any newer phones now, but glad to try on eBay.
