I just inherited a bunch of old coins from my Dad. Does anyone know a good online resouce for value? Probably nothing special. Mercury dimes, zinc pennies, other coins mostly from the 40's through low 60's.

You can find the value on line but grading is a different story.

I'm thinking that I'll sort through them a bit, pick out a few good condition coins and see if they are worth selling individually on eBay. Otherwise, I think I would be happy taking the other silver coins to a local dealer and selling for "melt value."

I'm not sure but I think that it is illegal to melt copper pennies as scrap in the US, Google it.

Someone else used the term "melt value." I mean't the value of coin silver, like if someone wanted to physically own silver, like bars, etc.
