USPS delivered my package from my eBay seller today (July 5). I saw the truck on the street this morning, and thought little about it since USPS often is just delivering Amazon stuff like they sometimes do on Sundays....but this was NOT from Amazon or their FBA....it was just a regular old eBay parcel sent by a regular old eBay seller with a real eBay packing slip.
Thought today was supposed to be a holiday???? Not complaining, just commenting.

Mine is open and according to Google, it is not a holiday so they are open. /shrugs

The carrier who's delivering Amazon stuff will sometimes also deliver regular mail in order to have less of a backup on the next business day.

And now another link says they are closed. LOL
Sheesh who knows..

I'm sure you would have mentioned it, but did the package originate with another carrier that used USPS as a shipping partner for the last leg of the journey like Amazon does? Like "DGM SmartMail Expedited" or some other less familiar shipper?
FWIW, I saw a couple of USPS carrier trucks out in my town today, too. I have three eBay purchases sitting at the post office for tomorrow's delivery. You'd think my carrier could've swung around and dropped those off at my house, but no . . .

It is a federal holiday so no regular postal service but as said they have carriers come in for Amazon deliveries and getting other packages caught up

Yeah, that changed a few years ago. I learned from a friend who used to work for USPS that many hubs treat it like any other day and show up for work. (I used to skip delivering my Ebay packages on a Sunday before a Holiday but she told me I shouldn't.)

It is as you say dependent on the area and the individual post office. I have a regional hub 2 miles from me that is open and staffed on Sunday from 9-5. You can do business just like any other day of the week at that site.

A USPS employee told me that they deliver packages on Sundays and holidays, but not other mail.

UPDATE TO PREVIOUS POST!
Went out my front door to put down mulch in this 90+ degree heat and discovered that my USPS carrier had indeed delivered those packages from eBay sellers! Well, two of them, anyway. One had arrived at the post office just this morning, too late to go on her truck, I'm sure. Delivery is scheduled for tomorrow . . .
The two packages delivered today were in the hands of USPS from start to finish.
Yea, USPS!

...USPS operated today for main purpose of delivery packages only, in tempted to relieve the impact of long weekend due to the holiday...
...senders can drop off packages at their local PO if they're open on Sunday...but it doesn't mean their packages will be sent and processed through USPS distribution centers...

...I think Google gave you a wrong information...

DS worked today at the sorting center for 12 hours - parcel deliveries occurred today per DS, but all he loaded from the hub to route vehicles were off Amazon planes evidently. 95* heat today outside - hotter inside the hub facility at the airport.
We did not get any parcels delivered to us today, but we did drop off this afternoon everything from the long weekend for processing tomorrow AM.

I had two packages delivered today by USPS. I was quite surprised. I knew they were on their way, of course, but expected delivery tomorrow.
But, then, unlike some, I have always found the USPS to be outstanding.

I don't know if this is also true of USPS, but Canada Post hires space on any vehicle they can. The logistics are a little complex.
A friend actually was in charge of this at CPO HQ some years back and started work at 4 am every day.
(He was a pretty high powered executive-- interesting guy-- went to school with Prince Charles.)
