Number of days an item has remaining has changed?

I rarely do auctions and up until yesterday or the day before my listings would run 30 days. Everything I've listed in the past 2-3 days has listed for 28 days. The only reason I even noticed is I will occasionally sort my items by "time left" and when I do that my newest listings are way down the list and listings with more than 27 days remaining are higher up on the list. Is this a new thing eBay is doing and I missed the memo? Are listings now only good for 28 days? Is this because there are only 28 days in February and if so, why did it change several days before the first of the month?

Yes it’s Because February only has 28 days. It’s always been like that except for leap year when it’s 29 days. That occurs every 4 years.

Listings are based upon day of the month - If a month has 30 days - items will list for 30 days.  You'll get an extra day in months with 31 days - and yes items will end in 28 days if listed between January 29th and 31st.

Thanks. Seems kind of stupid to me. Why not just 30 days all the time no matter how many days are in a month? It's not like we list everything on the first day of the month. I must be dense because I don't understand how this helps anyone or makes any sense.

You will be charged 2 times in one month strictly using a 30 day system.

I don't remember it being this way before, but maybe I hadn't checked in a while. Listings used to roll over every 30 days.

Okay, I just looked and here's what eBay says:

When you list an item as Good ’Til Canceled, it will relist every month on the same day until it’s sold. For example, if you list your item on the 1st of May, it will relist on the 1st of June.

If you list your item on the 29th, 30th, or 31st of a month, the duration will be adjusted if the following month is shorter, but will revert to the original day for longer months. For example, if you list an item on the 31st of May, it will relist on the 30th of June, and then again on the 31st of August and so on.

It's been this way for several years.  They messed it up at first when implementing GTC across the board & this was their "fix".
