Now for a heartwarming post office story...

So my post office has drastically cut hours. I tried to go yesterday to get my mail, and I got there 30 minutes after the store closed (which was at 4pm, not something I expected since they used to be open until 9pm). I tried again this morning, and the store was open (as I paid attention to the sign), but I didn't know the post office had much reduced hours more than the store... I was 2 hours early for when they opened.

I figured this was OK. I have stamps in my purse, and my issue was weighing the stamp collection that my Ontario buyer bought to see if I could put stamps. But the guy stocking shelves told  me he'd already logged in and he and the manager were helping customers outside the post office hours because of us essential workers not being able to meet a 3 hour window to get our mail and shipping stuff taken care of. I made sure I bought extra books of stamps so that I wouldn't be inconvenienced by the short hours.

So I go get my mail. My PO Box is stuffed with letter sized envelopes containing banknotes and coins that my partner had bought for ratings. I planned to take them all home and see what's arrived so he could leave positive 5 star feedback for everyone (and say things arrived on time... I check the mail only once every week or second week, I don't know if stuff arrived on time or not).

Mixed in with my letters was an envelope that had "I thought you might like this" written on the front. I opened it, and it was five mint condition stamps from Hong Kong. The manager told me once customers give him stamps from their country and he collects them. I know the envelope came from him. I'm going to call him on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday and he wasn't there today) to thank him for the stamps.

Thank you for sharing that, it was indeed delightful! Take that manager and staff some home baked bread or cookies, the post office doesn't get enough recognition nowadays and they should!
