I recently sold some items and after waiting several days for payment of the items, the individual finally paid, but added a note to "please make sure I packed the items carefully so that they were not damaged", or something like that. I have a top seller status and a good reputation, if only the purchaser had read the comments about value, packing, shipment, communication, etc. It was really annoying. I've been selling (not regularly) on eBay since 1998! If this person had read my feedback, he/she would have known that this should not be a concern. A bit off-putting, to say the least.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that, not sure why that is off putting to you. The buyer even said "please" for crying out loud.
The other day another posted the exact same thing but the buyer said..."or I will leave negative feedback"
A bit of a **bleep** comment, but even that was ok in my book.

Just continue to do the same thing that you have been doing. Don't get workout about a very simple ask. Btw, I am a top seller my self.
Good luck on your selling journey!

Sounds like boilerplate sent to all sellers.
Nothing personal.

Technically, between the two of you, you're the only TRS

I get people requesting the same thing every now and then. Some are just worried, because they have had so many things damaged (many sellers do NOT package well). Or their mailman won't come up the steps, just tosses packages onto the porch from six feet away (and there's no dog!). I've gotten things mailed to me ridiculously, like collectibles just put into a manilla envelopes, not even padded (like funko pops, which my husband and I both collect). I just pack things I send out, in a manner in which I want to receive them. Just do that, and you will be okay.

I guess. It used to be some thing that I was proud off. Now, its like what ever. The deep discounts are gone. If ebay was to send me a free ebay coffee mug, I will be so happy (sarcastic).

Don't take this to heart. What you have here is a buyer who has been burned and is now wary and worried. Just send them a nice message to reassure them and ease their concerns. This is not about your abilities. It is about some other seller's failure.

Notes like that are usually generated by buyers who have had disappointments in the past, not meant as a critique of your packing abilities. Had a friend who had searched for years to replace a tea pot of her mother's that she had broken, finally found it here, and guess what, it's bad news when your postal carrier tells you he noticed that the package rattled.

Had some doozies myself. But the most disappointing transaction was similar to your friend's. After searching for 15 years for a matching crystal compote to one I owned, this large fragile heavy piece arrived wrapped in dry cleaner bags, smashed to bits.
