No Method To Rankings in Listings

I have been selling for about 18 years. I keep hearing Ebay tell us all the Seller forced programs help us get higher rankings. The latest is Free Returns. I just dont believe anything the y tell us. I truly believe that ranking is all random. They have no method and all those little forced programs do nothing for your ranking or to boost your sales. I have a motherboard that has a quantity of about 30. I have been selling them for a while and have sold a few. My ranking is around 20th down on the list. I have 30 day return, I am Top Rated Plus, I have guaranteed delivery. I have Free shipping. But yet another seller. Offers none of these and is ranked around 5th. How does that work. If you call Ebay they have no clue and spew some generic written list of what you can do to boost your ranking. Ya I already have it all. I have been around Ebay from the beginning and used to Love it. Now with how Ebay treats is sellers. It is just about money. I try rewriting my titles. Adding max pictures, Everything I can thing of, but still me ranking is just Random. Now they want me to offer Free Returns, that It will help boost my ranking. Not a chance. I just don't see it.

Even in their estimates changing from 30 day returns to 30 day FREE returns will only boost your sales 5%.  Naturally they estimated it wouldn't increase return rates (LOL).  All while adding a "RETURN THIS ITEM" huge button right next to even item in your purchase history.  That button used to be "LEAVE FEEDBACK".  They are making money off returns, regardless of if the seller does.  My returns have increased massively over the last 2 months just because the new button.

Your picture price and what you are selling matters so much more than your policy.  The 10% discount for TSRp will never be worth free returns, it's economically untenable.

Heck, these days I`m just happy if my items show up in search. I agree with you and I`m tired of jumping thru ebay`s hoops. I have been selling here for almost as long as you have and can relate to your situation. I remember when selling on ebay was simple, fun and profitable.
