New seller here and first 5 offers I get are from scammers. Yeah utterly disgusted...and im done.

And more and more, and on and on. 3 new offers from 3 other scammers. And guess what. Some of them have perfect reputation! OMG! 100% feedback with like 300 + transactions

Can't trust this site anymore.

What I DO find impressive is that eBay notified me in time about this scammers. +1 to that system, actually thank you! But what if they don't get caught in time and I sell sht and get scammed? ZZZZZZZZZZ

You can avoid this by starting small.  When your first item for sale ever is a $1500 item in a high risk category, you are unlikely to get legitimate buyers.  You are a scam magnet.

You can't rely on eBay to catch all the scams, you need to protect yourself first.  If you don't know how to identify scams then you limit what you sell to amounts you can afford to lose.

Yes that is correct. Do not start out here selling high dollar high scam magnet merchandise if you are not a big box type store. Still, it is very pathetic that these scammers are out there doing this to people who are trying to make a go at selling online everywhere online.

All buyers have 100% positive feedback. Sellers cannot give buyers negative feedback.

I'm just curious, how do you know they were scammers if they didn't even purchase from you?

It's a good idea to build feedback by buying before venturing into sales.

Making at least 10 purchases (a digital scale is a good buy) helps you learn how the system really works.

And don't sell anything with a higher value than your feedback score until you have at least 10 DSRs and know what DSRs are.

Also, if eBay doesn't Block them for you, don't ship overseas until you have been buying and selling for a year.

Personally, I've only once purchased on ebay from someone who has less then 10 feedback, and I was sorry. Try building feedback first.

Scammers know that new sellers are great targets and they look out for it. Plus an expensive item makes it all the more lucrative  to try to scam.

But I'm stil not sure how you knew they were scammers.

Hi, welcome. Sorry for your rocky start. There are inherent risks in selling online. That's a given. There are some scams that eBay won't be able to catch in time because, for all intents and purposes, the transaction appeared legitimate. Only after the sale, after the seller has sent the item, does one learn the buyer is a scammer when they claim an item is Not As Described and mail back a rock in place of an expensive camera, phone, diamond ring, laptop etc. Ebay will protect the buyer's interest above all, sometimes even at the expense of the seller. The seller must guard his own interests and not expect eBay to do it.

I'm not saying eBay abandons its sellers. It does offer us some tools, like Buyer Requirements, but one must know of and how to employ these tools. Many newbies don't. However, with a little time, patience, and willingness to learn, there are ways to mitigate a seller's risk on the platform. That is why other posters recommend starting small. Get thru the eBay learning curve using items less likely to be targetted by scammers. Should you decide to stay, there are many fellow eBayers here on the boards who will be happy to assist you through the curve.

One last thing: my experience here is that most transactions go off without a hitch, and the large majority of buyers are honest. Haven't had a return in two years, and have never been scammed by a buyer in 9 years of selling. This platform works for many sellers.

Good luck to you whatever you decide.

Don't start off by listing high ticket items with little to no feedback. Build it up by purchasing a few items & listing a few cheaper items until you get familiar with how things are done on ebay. Have patience & don't rush into it.
