I'm trying to list a PS1 that I repaired recently and now it's telling me there's a problem with my wording, I have been repairing retro video game consoles, controllers and cartridges for years and that is the bulk of what I have sold on ebay, most projects are sourced from ebay as well and I've never had any issues with listing things as refurbished (because they're acquired in a non working state and brought back to original functionality), but for some reason on a new listing I got this error, anyone know what's going on with that and/or how to get the OK to start listing things as I have for years?

Refurbished is one of ebay's programs they are most obsessed with so I don't think they'll be backing off that policy.
You would just have to list as used.

You fixed a broken one. That is repaired. If you had went in and replaced all the capacitors and put a new laser in that would be refurbished.

Well thanks for that link, although this appears to be pretty unfortunate for my line of work since it has those parts about original packaging (most projects that come my way don't have the packaging and in some cases like console reshells come in varieties that weren't originally released) and the part about manufacturer certification (Even aside from the fact I'm one person without any kind of large scale business to get that kind of thing, I work on products from many different manufacturers). Well thanks for the info even if that means I'll have to figure out a different way to sell the projects I've already been doing for years, hopefully ebay opens seller refurbished back up to the Video Games & Consoles category at some point.

Obviously, you're going to have to rely on the description, rather than the title.
But, if you want to catch some eyes in the title, would something like the word Updated work?

Something "refurbished" is usually an item that is returned and repaired (by an authorized party, sometimes a division of the manufacturer itself) because it is still under warranty, then still has a limited warranty as it's properly repaired and tested, just not still "new".
There's nothing wrong with saying "repaired", in fact it's great to keep old gear up and running. But saying "refurbished" is stretching the truth. It's a 20 0r 30 year old item and that warranty is long gone.

"Rebuilt".

I suspect you are in part a victim of the con artists who wiped them down with a damp cloth and called them "refurbished".

Anyone can replace a part and call it refurbished to get more $$. Ebay stopped that a while ago. Just say in your listing the item is used and you replaced a part. Personally, I would skip even saying that and just say the item is use and it works.
