I've spent a full hour trying to list a vintage tea towel. The tool keeps popping up with annoying dialog boxes, one asking if you want to remove the background from the photo you're working on. I ignored it and it does it anyway. The result is that it cut a chunk out of the item on two of my photos. The other photos are really small. Who can manage to sell anything with this mess of a lister? I tried it several months ago and let them know its not workable. I went back to the old lister, but now today ebay forced it back on me with apparantly no way around it. This new listing tool has a really low-tech look.
I hate the background removal feature, it makes the item look un-natural, like a 3rd grader tried to Photoshop the picture. EBAY, sellers don't need this feature if they are experienced at photographing items for sale.

The new listing tool totally SUKS.....

I was recently forced to move to the new listing tool and I agree that it is beyond horrible. It is filled with minor glitches, the response time is slow, and that background remover only works effectively about 20% of the time so I now ignore it. Good thing, in some ways, that I am medically retired, only trying to make some lunch money, and in the short term have all the time in the world to list items. Otherwise the new listing tool would send me to seek alternatives to Ebay.

Are you listing on a mobile device, or with the web app? I haven't been prompted for any of the clean-up tools for my photos (I agree, from what I've seen the background burner eBay has is pretty choppy) but I list on a desktop. Just wondering if there's some kind of setting to disable that.

I post thru a desktop third-party application and haven't had any of those issues.
Programming features for the web is not as easy as the TV commercials would make it seem. We haven't quite gotten to the point where a human can talk to the computer and have the computer write the proper code and then properly test it for issues (human logic issues - computers don't make mistakes, programmers do).

I was listing on a desktop when I was prompted to use the clean up tool which ignored me when I closed the prompt. Then I switched to mobile and was able to fix the photos. I'd rather use my desk-top for listing. One problem I have with the mobile app is that the crop tool has no adjustment that I know of, it will crop the photo evenly on all sides which doesn't always work. The desktop lets you start the crop where you want, more to the left or right of the photo etc.

I have 2 ebay accounts. The one they mandated into the new lister is my newer account where I list things of low value. I'm dreading them forcing the new lister on my 23 year old ebay account where I list my bread and butter items. Maybe ebay will force me right into retirement!

If it's the new eBay listing tool, it's a little janky but simply is not so bad that it can't be used. It takes me really no longer to list with it than the original listing tool. Still, I'm hoping they improve it down the road.

I have read all your responses and is there any way to go back to the old listing tool? I hate the new one too.

Ebay..... post after post after post.... starting to look unanimous for what sellers think of the new unified listing tool experience.......
We just want a real desktop optimized tool like the classic so we can work efficiently like the industry standard not some half baked adaptation of a mobile phone app....... Just saying at some point you might want to listen to your customers and provide what we want- It would be amazing to be able to list here again without fighting the tool every time.

There is a workaround.
Go to an existing (or Unsold) listing that was set up with the earlier form.
Hit Sell Similar.
Scroll down to the bottom and make the form into a Template.
You can now use the Template of the older form as your go -to for listing new items in future.
Using a Template you can change title, category, pictures , Item Specifics, price, format, pretty well anything.
We shouldn't need to have a workaround but here we are.

Unfortunately, you are only talking to yourself and other eBay sellers.
I've heard if we all hold hands and sing:
Fahoo fores, dahoo dores
Welcome eBay, bring your light
Oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh...
eBay MAY hear our pleas.
It's not like we pay eBay to provide a functional platform to sell on 🙄

I've also been forced to the new lister and have never been given an option to remove backgrounds. Maybe because I click the pencil on the pictures and crop them?
