New Account/500$ Seller Limit Question

So i get this means that i cant sell multiple items worth a combined total above 500$ but can you seriously not even list an item worth more then 500$? And what would happen if say, you listed something for 499$ and then someone bid on it for 505$? Would that extra 5$ Be held until the next month and counted towards that months sale limit?

Pretty sure your selling limit only covers your listing prices. That means what you list your 'Buy It Now' price as and what your starting bid on an auction is. So my understanding is if you list an auction starting at $500, you're ok even if it sells for much more, because they only go by the starting bid.

It doesn't affect your proceeds, it limits the value in which you can LIST
