I'm selling some software codes for less than $1.50 each.
Woke up to an ebay message this morning from a buyer in another country. Was wanting to know if we could set up a Skype call so we can discuss the price and talk about giving him a better price.........for.......one.

back in the beginning you could pull any user's contact info.
Had someone call me at 5 in the morning asking questions about something I was selling.

That really wasn't where I was going with this. Besides, he didn't have my contact info.

While that does sound ridiculous on the face of it, I'm wondering here whether they're really more interested in getting further personal info on you, or sweet-talking you into some scam that has nothing to do with your eBay listing at all.
In particular, the fact that they're asking all this over a $1.50 item suggests that it wasn't really sent to you one-on-one from a live person, but sent out in bulk to as many sellers as possible, in the hopes that at least some will fall for whatever they have in mind before that buying account gets removed. (I'm guessing here that the buyer account itself has not been in existence for very long...?)

Wonder if the word "Skype" is set up as a trigger for detecting "off-eBay" sales /exchanging "personal info" via eBay Messaging.
Probably not. They're too busy trying to bust people for providing a zip code so you can calculate possible cheaper shipping options for an interested buyer. [shaking head]
