Need advice about my thermal printer please.

Hello. I have been using a thermal printer here for a while just fine. I usually ship through Ebays international service. A buyer asked me not to use that service & send it First Class inter. so I went to print & it is that typical label that has the horizontal postage on top then a dotted line with the instructions / receipt on the bottom of the page. I can't print it like this. It has to be turned vertically & the instructions need to be gone all together in order for it to print on my thermal in the correct size. I called 2 times to Ebay the first guy was clueless technically & refused to send me to a tech support person. My 2nd call was super nice but his only option was to cancel the label & send it through Ebay which prints out just fine. The buyer doesn't want that though so I don't know what to do.

Anyone here know how to print these types of labels correctly?

PS... I don't have an ink jet &  I do not want to go to Kinkos. All of my formats are set up correctly. Thanks again.

I haven't done one for  a long time & I don't have a thermal, but that formatting would make sense b/c it's gotta include the Customs declaration & instructions for the Customs part.  I can't assist for how to get around your issue though, I understand it, but I don't have a thermal.  Do you have access to any other printer in your home?  IDK that there IS a way around it.  If it were me, I'd go print it at the library.  I've had to do that eons ago.

Download a PDF editor, a free trail works.

use the crop tool and crop it off.

You can also resave file as a image and edit in a photo editor software as well.

Then when print be sure to pick your label size and print.

I do use a thermal printer, but I've never had this issue.

I would also not have complied with the buyer's request as I will only ship using EIS because of the great seller protections.  I hope everything turns out OK for you.

Did you try Googling your problem?  Often times you will find your answers that way.

That could work, but they're going to need to include the Customs part of it.

There are no customs parts. its just the 1 label & then a receipt. Im starting to think I will send it through Ebay. I already had to take the listing down & relist it to add on her post office service. it has been a pain in the tush. Now this. Its not worth the $28 blouse!

Thank you! I took your advice and sent it through Ebay. I will try to figure this out though in case I come across it again. I had these labels all the time back when I used an ink jet. I have not had to see them ever since I switched. Ebay doesn't know either so maybe there is no remedy except putting it into photoshop & cropping etc.

If the buyer didn't want it shipped through EIS, they shouldn't have bought the item.

I wouldn't change the shipping service to one that has no protections.

Well, if they actually bought it through EIS, there would NOT be a Customs form, but if you changed it to FCI, there s/b a Customs Form which is just part of the label these days.  I assumed you'd changed it to FCI, b/c that would be the whole point for your buyer (getting a cheaper price).  But I do agree with others, I would not have changed it to FCI, b/c that defeats the purpose of using EIS for YOU.   But yeah, if you want to print it as is, I think you're gonna have to use a regular IJ or Laser printer.

If you changed it to FCI, I guess I don't understand how you even can now send it EIS.  EIS wouldn't be expecting the pkg.

Buyers do not get to dictate shipping terms. The problem here could be (depending on the country) that you end up shipping with USPS First Class International to a country that does not pass back the Delivery Confirmation when it occurs. Then the buyer files an Item Not Received claim and you end up having to refund in full.

Here is the list of countries that DO send back Delivery Confirmation:

If you stick to your guns and use Ebay International Shipping instead then Ebay takes responsibility for the shipment as soon as it reaches their facility here in the US. I would be wary of a buyer who was actually asking me to NOT use it. I think it includes VAT or Customs charges that the buyer would have to pay and it could be that they are simply hoping to dodge that but in general I would not agree to a buyer wanting different shipping methods unless they have a good reason and maybe there is not a lot of money at stake.

I recommend you stick with what you do & how you have your listing set in the first place  You didn't list first class international so don't add it just because a buyer wants you too.    Now maybe it is worth the effort to figure out how to do it, but you open yourself up for so many more issues...just my opinion.

I'm so confused.  If they buyer has already paid, then they already paid for EIS.  Were you going to send a refund?  Cuz you can't just change it to FCI if that wasn't offered.  If you DID change it to FCI, then you can't just choose to ship EIS.

I have asked a seller to ship FCI & they have complied, but that was all BEFORE the purchase.

The last time I shipped to Canada first class I printed it out on a thermal label - I recall I had to use landscape orientation. It came out looking like this (example).

What @chapeau-noir  is showing is what I was talking about, the Customs info is on the left side.   But OP is saying there is no Customs info, which would be very weird & has me questioning if the listing was still set up for EIS, cuz then you'd be shipping domestically ergo no Customs on the label.

Thanks for showing the label Chap.  I didn't realize that thermals had a landscape mode.  Never used one.

I realised when my label came out all wonky lol. This is for the web version on a PC, which the OP may not be using, but I think it would be the same.
