Need Help knowing if this is a scam or not

I have only 15-10 hours left on this buyers option for one of my bids. It started at 375$ but he bidded about 25$ more making it 400$ which is amazing. Only problem is that it says he started his account in 2003 and lives in germany. But its shipping to my state can anyone please help me figure this out i really don't want this to be a scam. I ALSO P.S am setting a new bank account up and if it actually does go through the payment how will i get my money?

Need Help knowing if this is a scam or not

Not sure if it is but that About page (Bio) reads like a message to someone.  Why would that message be on their About page?  If someone wanted something and bid on it there is no reason to send a message saying if you can not text them then to cancel the order.  I am thinking it is a scam.

Let's clear up any uncertainty about that: it is a scam, 100%. That text which is (oddly) planted on the buyer's About Me page is a standard, word-for-word copy of the message usually sent directly to the seller after their offer has been accepted (in sales where Immediate Payment is not required in order to clinch the deal). If the seller falls for it (by texting the number given), the scammer can then text back a completely fake payment notification in reply, thus luring the seller into a communication path that eBay cannot see.

That secondary request to cancel the sale otherwise is to let suspicious sellers back out of the deal instead of drawing more attention to the scammer's hacked account (and possibly tipping off the real accountholder) by not paying, triggering eBay payment notifications and possibly getting an Unpaid slap on the account. They can snare more sellers by operating as quietly as possible and not drawing eBay attention to the purchases on the hacked account.

Just as a guess, I think that message on the About Me page of the hacked buyer account might be stored there as a copy-and-paste source when trying to lure as many sellers as possible into off-site transactions and fake payment notifications. Multiple scammers may be using the compromised account at the same time.

@usnap0

Your one listing does not appear to have any bids.  Did a buyer send you a formal eBay offer?     Did someone contact you to email or text them off the eBay site to discuss the sale?

Your listing also says "Local Pick Up only".  so you won't be shipping it anywhere.

I guess we need to know why you think you had this "$25 bid", as there were no retractions either.

@usnap0  I think you need to back out and get a better idea of how this works - good that you're setting up managed payments. To answer your question about payment:  This is how you get paid.

You have no bids on your auction - did you have an offer for the $400?  Was this offer made through the site or are they asking you to contact them off site?

There are currently no bids on your item - so prob a scam. Don't email or text any buyer and under no circumstance move the transaction off Ebay.

You are a new seller so your payment will be held UP TO 30 days. Please read and understand the Ebay Sellers Terms and conditions which you agreed to.

If you need money to cover any urgent expenses within the next few days you should sell locally for cash

You have local pickup so you are not shipping anywhere. Many buyers can not read and will expect you to ship. You really don't want to go through the hassle of canceling and refunding a transaction because a buyer did not read your listing clearly.

@usnap0  Yes, relist, local pickup is best - if you sell this on eBay because you are new you will get a 30-day hold on the payment. If you decide to do it here, read this first: Local pickup and payment.

This one sounds too 'iffy' to jump out of the gate with. Were I you, I would put that user on my Blocked Buyer List.
>> Block buyers from your listings | eBay

I'd also suggest that you get your MP account set up and read up on policy before selling here. Good luck to you.

That guy is definitely a scammer. He's asking you to text him right on his bio.

If you want to sell it locally for cash post it on CL or FB or another local marketplace. It's much simpler than Ebay.

If you still insist on selling on Ebay you should know that your listing is not set up for cash payments. You need to go into your listing and revise the payment section at the bottom of the listing and tick the accept cash option.

If a buyer want to pick up they will complete the checkout process, you will arrange pickup time and location, The buyer will give you cash, Ebay will give the buyer a code which you the seller will scan or enter on the ebay app so that ebay can know that the transaction has been completed and charge you the appropriate FVF fees. Like I said this is rather complicated.  See Below

Bids only increase the starting price if someone bids against the first bidder, you will not see how much any bidder actually bid. If the first bidder was the only bidder, the starting price does not change and it would not show their actual bid. So if the starting price was $375 and they bid $400 it would stay at $375 until someone else bid.

Agree 100% OP should end their current listing while they finish getting MP setup. In the interim they should read through a number of the help files starting with the MBG policy and the fee schedules. When they are setup to sell they should start out with low dollar, low risk items to get a feel for how the platform works and gain some experience rather than starting out by listing a high dollar high scammer target item although the local pickup mitigates that a bit and pretty much nullifies the German bidder.

Thats exactly what i was reading into and basically i did some research it turns out that some other people had very similar messages. Not from the same guy obviously but following the same messages it turns out in my theory all these people scam using the same "sorry for the inconvenience ( phone number )" like its insane.
