My first INR case...do I send message to buyer through case or Ebay Messages?

This is my first INR case and I want to make sure I do this right.  I want to send the buyer a message stating that I am working with the post office to try and get her package moving again since the tracking scans stopped on 10/29 (In Transit).  The INR case has an option to send buyer a message.  Should I send her the message through the open case or should I send the message through the Ebay messaging system (Contact Buyer).  I know this is probably a silly question, but I have never done this before and I just want to make sure I do this the right way.  Thank you in advance for any advice.

Do it through the open case, so all contact will be in one place.
