Maximum amount of variations for MV listing

What's the highest amount of variations can a listing hold and be able to revise?

I currently have some with 150, and would like to add more. I remember a few years ago I created a listing with about 220 variations. It listed just fine initially, but I was unable to revise the multi variations section of that listing because that page never loaded when I clicked on it. I think it would time out trying to load that many variations. I couldn't change the price, add/remove quantity to each variation... which the listing eventually became useless so I had to end it and re-create one with less variations.

The basic Help page says:

Each listing can have 5 variation details and up to 60 values for each of those details.

For example, if you're selling shoes, your 5 variation types could be color, size, width, material, and style. Each of those details can have up to 60 values: 60 different colors, 60 different sizes, and so forth.

You can have up to 250 variations in a single listing for no additional fee.
