Making my listing clear.

Sorry, i posted in the wrong place earlier.

So i have a listing for $2 bills. I don't sell much of them but i've been selling them for over 10 years.

I once had a unhappy customer because he bought 1 for $3 and was then disappointed that he did not receive the $1,377,802 worth of $2 bills bills in the picture.  I replied to him "How many $2 bills did you think you were getting for $3?"

Of course i tried to make it as clear as possible that the listing was for ONE $2 bill, like i did with this current listing.

I know some of you will say...

A) The listing says "bills" not "bill".  I do have "bills" for sale, you just have to purchase them 1 at a time.  Just like someone selling "t-shirts".

B) Use a picture with just 1 $2 bill. I could do that but the picture will not be the same serial number as the bill they are buying. Most people buy more than 1 bill at a time.   I guess i could show the back of a $2 bill?

Is my current listing "idiot-proof" or is there still too much room for misunderstanding?  I know i can count on everyone's opinion, good or bad.

No you didn't. If you were making it "as clear as possible" you would simply FIX your photo to only show ONE bill in your listing.

You seem to be bending over backwards to avoid doing the one OBVIOUS thing that you already KNOW has caused confusion.

Blur out the serial number and only show 1 bill.

Maybe take "in consecutive order" out of the title. IMO that makes it seems like the listing is for more than one. That could go in the "condition" line.

Some sellers of consecutive bills sell them in pairs, or triples, or maybe quads.

Showing the serial #'s is again a possible source of buyer dissatisfaction when they wanted the # shown.

Not sure there is a way to "idiot-proof" a listing. There is always one out there will fail to understand.

You're right.  I did "almost" everything i could. I did watermark the picture to say this listing is for ONE BILL.

I was thinking, even if you purchased  SOLELY based on the picture, you did not read the listing at all, or even the title for that matter, how could you not know you were buying 1 bill?

You don't have to NOT KNOW, just have to claim you didn't know. Probably going to end up giving a few of these away.

I just thought of an idiot-proof way to list it.

List it as a $2 "bill". Make it a variations listing. Take a photo of each and every bill for sale (with serial number). List each bill/serial number separately. Let them pick and choose what bills/serial numbers they want to purchase.

G34138490F   <--- They may want this one.

G34138491F

G34138492F   <--- This one.

G34138493F

G34138494F   <--- This one.

G34138495F   <--- This one.

G34138496F   <--- This one.

G34138497F

G34138499F

I knew there had to be a way!    I'm a genius!  😃

If you know some will say then listen to those who will say. It sounds like you already know how to do it correctly without confusion.  Just list a $2 bill, show a picture of a $2 bill and write in the description serial numbers will vary and be done with it.

If I were "in Hawaii" I would take all those $2 bills and shop the local garage/estate sales.

I've made some really nice buys while on short vacations to the islands.  Helped pay for the trips!

Perhaps you can't source locally because of mobility issues (or whatever) but I'd give my eye teeth to be in Honolulu or Kahului or wherever, with a stack of $2 bills!

That's kind of what this thread is all about.  It doesn't matter what you write in the description. If the buyer doesn't read it or understand it, you're SOL.

"I bought serial number 123456789 but i received serial number "123456788"

I'm asking if the listing is fine now, if not, trying to come up with a way to "idiot-proof" of least improve the listing.  Asking for opinions/suggestions.

Usta play the ponies.

In Grants Pass Oregon, they would pay off in $2 bills if you asked.  No idea why.

Cashed out many times in $2 bills.  They would buy a little more when presented, if the novelty 'premium' was recognized, how ever worthless...
