Main Categories

CS told me years ago that sellers are given some preference in their main category or two. Example, if you sell mainly books and art prints, you get a little boost in visibility in those categories but you won't get that same boost in other categories.

I'm not sure if this is still true (Promoted listing might have corrupted the whole thing).

Does anyone know if this is still true? If it is, does anyone know how to find those categories?

On the list of 200 different things that supposedly give you a "boost" in visibility where do you think this would rank?

I would think fairly high. It would make sense to push sellers who know their items and could keep buyers coming back for more.

I do not know if that is still true. I do know that when I list in a category that I do not normally list in, the item page freezes every time I type something.  The first couple could take up to 30 min. each to write. After that everything goes back to "normal".
