Being in The Last To Know category, I just now discovered that Walmart has 365-day free shipping return policy.
I've never ordered anything online from Walmart before. Who knew it was so generous ?!?
This was an item I would normally order from Wayfair but returning anything to Wayfair, besides paying for the shipping, means a 20-minute drive to the closest FedEx store. (No, this will not fit in the USPS drop boxes.)
I am assuming some of the big kids on the block here don't offer free returns, or else that policy would be mandated for all by now.
(Took the Twin Terrors to see the new movie "Penguins" the other day.)

Yep.
And for Prime members, Amazon is changing 2 Day free shipping
to 1 Day free shipping.

Next they will be offering 1 minute transporter.
Someone better warn Scotty.

Some may answer the question, When do you need it? with yesterday!
Brings to mind:
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.

He's funny, to be sure. His delivery is great.
That quote has always stuck with me. I thought it was hysterical.

I think 30 days is too long. It doesn't take 30 days to know if the item is as described. One year returns means they are getting back used and dated items. If people think a policy like that won't drive prices up then they are living in fantasy land.
Someone needs to lead the way back to reality before all the big retailers gobble up the little sellers and then no one will be happy ever again.

Having a potential return hang over your head for a long long time means the money isn't yours until the time has elapsed. So the buyer ends up owning both the money and the item until the return window has elapsed while he decides which one he really wants to keep. That's crazy and unfair.

Any more, people aren't selling things, they are loaning them out, while holding a fully returnable security deposit.

I see your point but actually some items can reasonably be expected to last more than thirty days.

Can I return the gallon of oil I put in my car 6 months ago for a full refund?

Not sure where you see 365 days - 90 seems to be the time frame for most items.

But they do make returns easy.
