Lost package/ no tracking update

Hi, I need help.
I sold my old UGG boots on eBay, and shipped it a week ago. Actually I asked pickup, and usps delivery person came at my front door to picked it up.  But even after a week, the tracking info hasn’t been updated at all, it says it’s picked up and no updates after that. My customer messaged me and complained saying “where is the package”.
I went to USPS.com and filed research service. Next day, my customer’s local post office of called me, but they said they can’t do anything, and they closed the case. So, I went to my local post office to ask. They said they can’t locate my package either. They said I should go USPS.com and contact the agent. I did, I was on hold for an hour though, they finally responded and said… they can’t locate the package. They suggested I file a claim to reimburse. But what should I say to my customer?

You are very welcome.  I'm glad I could help a little.  Those steps are the steps I take each and every time I have a package that seems to have gone the scenic route.  It is rare for USPS not to track down the package and get it delivered and those steps really do help the process.

Go back to the steps I gave you and follow them.  Sign up for the tracking updates and file for a trace.  That appears to be something different, I'm not sure what a "package research" actually means.  That is a new one for me.  But get that Trace filed.

     I must have just hit a bad streak I have had two outgoing packages and one incoming package lost in the last 2 months. None were ever found and I have been reimbursed for all three including the shipping cost. I never waste my time with the track I simply file an insurance claim the minute the window opens and the package has not been moving for awhile. The first thing they do with the insurance claim is try to locate the package so they simply repeat the trace process. For all the cases I opened it was an average of about 2 weeks for USPS to process the claim and send me a check.

Thank you again for your help. I was about to file a trace, and then... guess what? the tracking info finally has been updated. The package is at Seattle now. It's so weird because Seattle is only 102 miles  away from Lynden where they picked it up on day one...

Sure glad the tracking got updated.  I sincerely hope it arrives safe and sound at its destination soon.

Hello I mailed a package UPS and still haven't been paid by PayPal. I sent the buyer 2 messages no response from them. It was mailed out @ a double cost in shipping for me just so they would receive it in time for Christmas yet still no response. I believe I am being scammed. Can you please check into this?

This is NOT Ebay customer service, this is the Member Community on Ebay where we can ask each other questions and get advice as we need to.

 

 I mailed a package UPS and still haven't been paid by PayPal.

You appear to be an active seller on Ebay, you should know that you can not get paid by or from PayPal.  All seller payments are processed through Ebay Managed Payments.

 

Ebay has had a rule for many years that pertains to New Seller and sellers that have been away from selling for 90+ days. The following is the policy that outlines why you money is likely on hold.

You really should leave your buyer alone.  Your issue is not their issue if they submitted payment.

Why would you do that?  Did the buyer pay for the upgraded shipping?  If they didn't, you should not have done this.

Unlikely.  You want your buyer to respond on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.  Chances are pretty high they are no where near their computer or checking their mobile device.

 

Your issue is NOT your buyer.  You need to look at your Managed Payment account and see if the money is there but on hold because of your selling status.

As for your shipment to them, have you tried looking at the UPS tracking?  That should be your FIRST stop, but don't keep emailing your buyer, that is going to cause you issues when your buyer actually does start checking their emails.

Lost package/ no tracking update

 

The mail has been a nightmare this holiday season.  I mail lots of packages, and have lots of them with no updates in tracking since they were picked up, many over a week ago.  I even had one day where I had them picked up and watched my postal carrier scan them and they never even show to be picked up.  They still say USPS awaits item.  I don't know what to do.  It looks like I'm going to be out lots of refunds, and potentially bad feedback.
