Local Purchase - QR Code

I recently purchased an item with local pickup only. The seller will not provide the location for the pick up until I provide them the purchase QR Code. Is this a scam, or is it safe to provide the seller with the QR Code?

You should give the seller the QR Code or equivalent number at time of pick up not before.

It could be a scam or it could be a seller that doesn't understand the process, doesn't matter.

(Do not) give the seller the QR Code before you have picked up your order.

the QR Code takes the place of a tracking number so the seller has proof that

the buyer picked up the order and has it.
