I have been selling vintage car parts for 14 years and this morning I had a listing removed for having FORD in the title I was told by a US rep today that the 1942 taillights I had listed where taken down because I used the Vehicle Title this time being "Ford" in the title of the ad has anybody else have this happen. I did read in rules see below. But I thought this meant the actual vehicle title. Anybody else run into this?

It does make it hard for a buyer to know what they will fit doesn't it......

This is a little confusing. Can you write the "exact" title you had when Ebay removed it.

- Vehicle titles cannot be included when offering parts
That makes no sense. Aren't they referring to the [ownership] title of a vehicle in that rule? What did they say about the fact that you have "Ford" in 374 other listings of yours at the present time?
Do you have a record of what the exact wording was of the listing that was pulled?

Was the rep an obvious ESL speaker?
AFAIK vehicle titles refers to the actual title TO a car and has nothing to do with the MAKE of the vehicle the part is for.

Confusing. What are you supposed to do. List it as tail lights for a 1940 car built it America. Guess which make and model. Perhaps list it as made by a company whose founders first name was Henry. Or maybe for a 1940 found on road dead and then find a new name for the model.
😁😃😆

Was it the word "Title" possibly?

I can't imagine an ebay listing title for a Ford part having the word title in it. Why would you?
04-12-2023 10:48 AM
@toomuchstuffagain35 Maybe because the OP made it confusing and actually said they used the word title?

"because I used the Vehicle Title this time being "Ford" in the title of the ad has anybody "
I once used the word "like" in a title and had the listing removed three times before I caught on. Bots are funny like that sometimes...

I read that to mean they used the (vehicle title aka name) FORD in the title.

Try listing a book/DVD etc with the word NOT in the title of same sometime lol

Was the removal from a Vero complaint? If so, there is a link where you can contact the complainant and ask for a review pointing out that your are selling Ford parts so it is not a misuse of the name (assuming of course they are genuine Ford parts and not a knock off).
I have had a few over the years and the review process has had quite a few of them reversed. The complaint was withdrawn and I received a note from eBay authorizing relisting the item and I was able to continue listing and selling the item.

Here is the title I had funny thing is I had it listed for a month took down and sold similar
1942-1948 Ford Taillamp / Taillight Glass Lens Blue Dot Cats Eye
I called Ebay and got a usa rep and she told me that it was because Ford is in the title.
I did look up on the vero list and ford motor company is on there "Ford" I don't believe they where on there before GM Dodge none of the others are on the list.

That is so strange considering you have over 300 other listings with the word Ford in the item title. Maybe it's the entire combination of words that is throwing off the bots. Like the words Ford, Cat, Lens, and Eye might be sending a weird message.
I listed a product previously that was a bag for a firefighter SCBA Mask with 3M branded reflective and it got flagged because during Covid they were freaking out about the 3M mask issue. My product was nothing similar to the N95 face mask product made by 3M.
