Listing not showing up.

     I made an eBay account because I bought a golf club that skyrocketed in value. I also put a reserve on it and set it up for a three day auction.  Its day 2 and the listing can still not be searched. I checked after the 24 hours and saw that it is an active listing.  It is no where to be found unless I go to selling.  I'm going to refuse to pay the 63 dollars they are going to charge me since at this point its still not showing. Also extremely disappointed in eBay for this situation.

I don’t know what site your posting on because I don’t see your listing. Unless you have a selling ID .

I hate to tell you this but, if you refuse to pay your fees  eBay can send a collection agency after you and ding your credit.

If it's listed in your "Selling", can you give us an item #?

Regarding that 63 dollars, if that was the Reserve fee, then I am afraid that yes, you will be paying that.  It was charged the moment you listed it.

Did you read absolutely everything about selling before listing?

Well, I can't find your listing at all, so I can't comment on it directly, but in general, a couple of points:

  1. Setting a Reserve price is a colossal waste of money. It was originally introduced way back when the cost of the listing was determined partly by its opening price, so it might be cheaper to start low but use a Reserve. However, the basic listings are generally free now, whereas the cost of a Reserve has skyrocketed. Just set your opening auction price to be what you would genuinely accept to sell it for if you only ever got one bid, and then every bid after that is gravy.

  2. A 3-day auction is far too short to give everyone a chance to find it. Give yourself at least the 7 days of a standard auction, to ensure that even bidders who log in only once a week will see your listing.

Also keep in mind that you are not going to get your funds free and clear right away, so don't plan to sell anything in a hurry here for fast money. In that case, you may be better off selling your item locally for cash.

EBay warns us that listings, particularly for new sellers or for high value items, may not "index" and show up for 24 hours.

So there goes the first  24 hours of your 72 hour listing.

And eBay discourages short auction listings by charging extra for them.

A normal seven day Auction or 30 day Fixed Price listing is free.

Money speaking louder than words.

In addition, new sellers get less attention than experienced sellers and will have any payments Held against their performance for up to 30 days

BTW, in case your club does sell, do you have a Managed Payments account set up  so eBay can transfer money to your checking account?

And new sellers of high value goods are red meat for scammers.

Personally,  I would only list that as Fixed Price - giving you a 30 day window to find a buyer.

I would use Immediate Payment Required- which stops many scams dead.

I would refuse non-US* buyers- although in fact you can only refuse to ship to non-US addresses, the buyer could be anywhere.

With luck your auction will end unsold and you can rethink how to sell in safely and at your price.

*Not because they are any less honest than Americans, most of the scams I've had tried on me came from the USA.

I'm going to refuse to pay the 63 dollars

@tywhi5877

I don't think you get to do that.  eBay will just take it.   As stated, this ID has nothing for sale, or any completed items.  Be advised if you have another selling ID, and it is new there will likely be no payout (after eBay takes their cut first) for 30 days.

@tywhi5877

You just opened an account yesterday.  Did you register with managed payments so you can be paid?  If not you'll never see any money and yes eBay will come after you for that $63.  Do you really want your credit rating ruined for $63? This is business, not a quick fix for quick cash.  I would do some more reading concerning selling because your inexperience is going to hurt you if you don't.  Good luck.

I am thankful for the replies.  How could I not have a case if my item never was even available for auction though? I'm not trying to be cheap about it lol.  It wouldn't be right for them to charge be the reserve fee if the item I listed never showed up which everybody in this chat has verified that they cannot see it.
