For the past two days I've been unable to complete my listings, mostly new fabric. I would get the promo " Pay no insertion fees on 250 fixed price listings, including Good ‘Til Cancelled" in red and the listing would not complete.
Today I spoke with customer service. Apparently if the item does not have a UPC and if the seller does not have their own product identifiers, the field must be left blank. I was using "Does not apply." When attempting bulk list two items, there is an error message that "Does not apply" is invalid and to leave it blank if there is no UPC.

I am a bit confused. There is a drop box that says "Does not apply". Is that what you're using? You must either put a code in or use that drop-down. If, however, it only errs if you're in bulk listing, it might be one of the many glitches currently plaguing the bulk listing feature.
If a customer service person told you to leave the field blank, he/she was mistaken. Unless something changed overnight, you've had to do the above for months and months now.

Then perhaps there are a few categories which differ. Nothing we sell in allows us to leave the field blank. Alternately, putting in an actual UPC code has also never worked without throwing an error message........

Post your issues in the Product Catalog / UPC feedback thread. They need to hear from more sides that this push to UPC/MPN has too many issues at this point.

I had used the drop down box to select "Does not apply". The Customer Service Rep said they are making changes and the error message said to leave it blank.
Ch-ch-ch-changes.

@leesbeads_1 can you please share the listing where you weren't allowed to select UPC = "Does not apply"?

The first line of the OP: "For the past two days I've been unable to complete my listings"

@penguins_dont_fly I just wanted to know if @leesbeads_1 tried setting UPC to blank and weather that worked. I wouldn't expect it to work but wanted to get confirmation.

Yes, leaving the UPC area blank has worked so far. I sell mostly fabric and vintage linens. Two categories that do not have product identifiers.

Sorry, I just saw this. There were two.
I think this is one of them, but I don't remember the other.
Best,
