Listed a one day rental, had an error in end date (wrong month but duration of one day was correct). Buyer purchases and immediately writes expecting 30 days instead of 1 claiming immediately purchased non refundable flights and insists on 30 days for the price of 1. Refund buyer, apologize for error, buyer threatens to sue for flight costs and reimbursement for 30 day rental. I made an honest mistake and refunded but is there any recourse for this kind of extortion?

Wish I could sue them for tying up my auction and obvious bogus threats.

No one can force you to sell the item to the buyer. The buyer might be able to take you to small claims court, but that would be quite an expense to them as it must take place in your jurisdiction, I believe. Did the buyer realize there was a discrepancy in the listing and moved to take advantage of it? If so, then I would tell them you will not follow through with the transaction. Then let the chips fall where they may. It wouldn't hurt to have a talk with a lawyer on exactly what your liability is under such a situation. But no one can force you to follow thru with the transaction. The worst eBay can do is give you a defect on your account for a seller-canceled transaction, but just as long as you don't get another one, one should not compromise your selling account.
