I have been on Ebay for 21 years with 100% rating. Total buy and sell in the amount of 100k. With my family we have 7 accounts with buy and sell totaling 2 million dollars. The customer service has turned into total crap. The agents can hardly speak English and can't even determine the different time zones in the US. And what is the 48 hour wait before a listing goes live? I list camera and lens and the wait was 24 hours last week and now they say it changed to 48 hours. Due to their total disregard for good customers, we have decided to close all accounts. We will not accept bad treatment from your company. Years back Ebay was a good company that cared about their customers. Not now. They don't care if you are using their site or not. It is very obvious that the decline of customers will continue and their stock will continue to drop.

Customer service is to make ebay feel warm and fuzzy, and as a facade for buyers and the street to give the impression of being responsible.  On facebook?, well, it doesn't cost them nearly as much as having a real, competent, functioning and capable CS dept.

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

The foolishness of one's actions or words is determined by the number of witnesses.

Perhaps if Brains were described as an APP, many people would use them more often.

I shouldn't have to contact someone on Facebook. What is customer service for?

The customer service reps that you get on call back or chat are in outsourced call centers in other countries  (not Utah).  They are always polite, but cannot help you with any technical or financial/fraud issues.  It has been documented over and over again on these boards that they also often give the wrong advice which often makes the caller's situation worse.  It doesn't matter if they give you the wrong advice, ebay won't back you up if you follow it and end up in more trouble as a result.  I surmise since these agents are so often fond of the "24 to 48 hours"  scenario, it either means 'they have no clue or probably never' depending in the circumstances. 

The 'send message' feature on the facebook page goes directly to a higher tier customer service composed of US eBay employees that are well versed in most issues and do have the authority to help you with more complex problems.   Yes, you will have to have a Facebook account in order to access that level of customer service.  It does not mean you have to "make friends" or "share photos of your family pet" etc.  It is just a means to an end to use a better communication portal.   

All customer service should be the same, but unfortunately the call back or chat is not.

@nrsev: what exactly was the problem that caused you to call CS originally? While you can set up a listing to wait 24-48 hours before going live if desired (you can schedule up to two weeks in advance), the default setting is to list immediately. I have never heard of a 24-48 hour wait for anything.


I feel like I have just stepped into another dimension, hearing of ANY listing getting ANY delay!  Swear, I have never seen a single person here mention it, and everything I've ever posted (WIDE variety of categories over the years, both BIN and auction) were visible as soon as I hit 'List Item.'  I sold a BIN item about an hour after listing yesterday, and I've had things get snapped up in less than 10 minutes a few times, like hit "list item" go into the kitchen for coffee, and hear my phone make the CHING sound as I put the cream back in the fridge!

Okay, here's where I'm a little confused: your selling record shows that you ended four listings between 11:19 and 12:31 pm PST today. You then sold one a little more than two hours ago. Is that one (155171973183) the listing you scheduled to start last night?

I think perhaps in swamped categories, the indexing process can take a while, but anyone using more direct methods to find your listings (e.g. looking up all items sold by you, or simply trolling a category sorted by Newest First) should find them right away.

 

For example, if I use my buying account to search for Newest First in a category in which my selling account has scheduled listings, mine will show up in the results just like everyone else. I don't know how your conversation with the script-reading Customer Service drones seemed to go sideways, but I don't think they either understood your question or gave you an accurate (or at least complete) answer.

Same here. That is why I am so upset. I never had any delay on any type of listing in 21 years until 3 weeks ago. When I called and escalated the call to a supervisor he told me it takes 24 hours now to list. My question was "why do you have an option for start date and time?"  So I thought that was the new policy and I will accept. Fast forward 3 weeks and I list an item with start time 9pm and date 9-19-2022. 15 hours later the listing is not live. That is why I called. Then I was told it takes 48 hours now. Total **bleep**.  Since my original post I had my daughter list a watch and it was live in 3 minutes !

I've only had accounts with eBay since 1998.

The 24 hour delay notice has been there at the bottom of the Sell Your Item form(s) for at least that long.

Most of my items, on any of my IDs , are indexed and visible within minutes, and I have had sales almost as quickly.

 

But the Notice still is there.
