LISTING IN BOLD

Anonymous
Not applicable

Suggestion:      Years ago the BOLD listing was only$1.00 & I used on every thing I listed.  Now the price is up to $4.00 & I no longer use.   I think eBay could make more money if they went back to the $1.00 listing.  I am sure others would agree.  Thanks.

The current fee ranges from $2 to $6, depending on item price and listing duration.  It was a waste of money even at $1.

Bold listings were usually a waste of money in the old-school phone book listings and are usually just as useless elsewhere.  Maybe against the white pages or yellow pages, a bold listing stood out a little bit, but against a multi-colored Ebay search results background, well I for one just don't notice it. Better to spend your advertising dollar on a "promoted" listing.

Don't confuse Bold type with All Caps.

If everything is in bold, then it just all runs together even when some words are more important than others.

In the world of emailing and posting online, all caps are considered yelling.

There is a difference between putting an emphasis on a word or a few words vs using all caps.

Too many words typed all in caps are much harder to read than those that just have a few words capitalized.  Much like trying to read one long paragraph.  The longer the paragraph the harder it is for the eye to follow.  And when those long paragraphs are in all caps it is even worse.

I don't think this still applies, but it is a rule I stick with.   There was a time that Google would lower you in their search returns if more than three words were in all caps in the title of Ebay listings.  I don't think that is the case any longer, but I still run with that when I design a listing title.

Quite the opposite here. I use ALL CAPS in every aspect of every listing. And that is a lot of details. I never had a complaint nor would I stop using them even if I did. And on occasion I use the emojis as well . It's nothing more than a listing tool that for me anyway works. I prefer my listings to stand out rather than the dreary millions that all look the same. Page after page of the same old gets monotonous !! And personally I can read my listings ( IN CAPS ) much better than most others. So to each his/her own in regards to how one chooses to list their property. Don't Worry Be Happy 😀

I had a hunch that it was eBay's way of eventually phasing out this functionality.

I respect that you feel this works well for you and I think that is terrific.  I was merely sharing information.  You of course are welcome to do whatever you find is right for you.

emojis in titles are (supposedly) a listing violation btw
Reality is the leading cause of stress.
