Anyone hear sell the stuff? I see an add on the local FAcebook Marketplace for a ton of it. The seller has gone to the trouble to list everything. The price is necessarily high and I am not sure of my ability to sell them effectively. My research indicates that the single albums don't sell for much. There are "lots" but I don't know anything about the groups to combine them. Too risky to spend money on? They are supposed to be complete with cards and other miscellanea.

Most CDs do not sell for much, if they sell at all.
Anyone making significant money selling CDs is likely to know what is valuable and what is overpriced at 25 cents.
If you are not an expert, this is not likely to be a high payoff venture.

I have CDs but I am a boomer.
DD had CDs but she's a Millennial and donated them years ago.
K-pop fans are Gen X and even more GenAlpha. They don't buy CDs and don't have CD players.

Oh yeah.
FB Marketplace?
They are counterfeits.

Probably why s he is selling her collection. I don't assume they are counterfeit like a lot of MP stuff. But I guess too far outside my wheelhouse.
I had another collection of vintage jazz CDs and got some listed before I got ground down by them. I took them to the used bookstore. T hey took them all for low trade credit. The ones I listed are selling albiet slowly. So I question if I did the right thing.

Gen X? 🤔
GENERAL: Anyway, Kpop has been around since the mid-90s, anyway, so the fan base is liable to be pretty broad. I wouldn't bother with CDs, though. Like any genre, Kpop will have certain in-demand physical media with art, etc.) but one would have to be really well acquainted to know which ones.

Point is exactly true. I can and do go to booksales and buy without scanning because the ebay app on my phone is so slow and cumbersome. I make few purchases of books in my areas that aren't worth listing. But 25 years of work has gone into that.

Hi @keziak
I can attest KPop has broad appeal. Now a senior, have enjoyed it myself, being utterly charmed with the catchy beats and infectious energy of the performers, especially once the high definition video began to emerge on YouTube. This was about 2010. (The promoters used YouTube extensively to market KPop internationally. It created more reach for their product, definitely spreading their fan base.)
At that time, physical media still included the old stand-by’s, vinyl and cassette, but the more popular choices were CDs and DVDs, alongside the rise of digital downloads and the beginning of streaming services like the newly birthed Spotify. Digital music players like MP3 players, especially iPods, were also common, which is what i used at the time. But now i am back to listening to my KPop favorites on YouTube. Of course, that is why the promoters used the special posters, packaging, books and other accouterments with purchase—to encourage fans to buy who otherwise might go the free route like i did.
It definitely took me awhile to learn the names of performers, the groups and music companies in the KPop world. If you already have the goods on hand, i’d say it might be worth the effort to list, but acquiring product for resale could be quite daunting. All in all, it is still smart reasoning given its sustained popularity. Good on ya’ @keziak !

I am still debating whether to make the deal. The woman has both dropped her price a little and did the work of listing all of it (a ton). She says they come with materials. But I've made my share of overly optimistic purchases.

If the seller listed all the titles you can do the research to see if they are worth selling. Chances are you will sink in a ton of time not worth the payoff.
We tried to steer you away from the marketplace listing for dishes, but you bought them anyway then had numerous headaches with shipping and further trouble when you realized the advice about most dishes being long-tail items was accurate and you were left with boxes of heavy dishes that weren't selling.
So ... I don't know if you'll take the experienced advice already offered here letting you know this isn't the best sourcing decision unless you find a few pieces in the lot (before purchase) that will guarantee a profit.
Either way, hope your sales are dynamite, shining through the city with a little funk and soul. (Someone had to say it. 😁)

i buy kpop cds, i do sell more popular ones sometimes when i get my hands on them.
kpop, jpop and cpop do have a good niche if you are knowledgably in those categories

keziak, I have been selling CDs for 32 yrs., BUT, only 50s Blues, DOO-WOP, RnB, Rockabilly and RnR. I charge .50 a cut, they can not be re-recordings and only sell them as an ancillary product. Predicated strictly upon your post, forget it.

That's the key - I list DVDs (which too many people say "Nobody buys anymore") and sell most of them ('Nobody' must have deep pockets). But I know what I'm listing in a small niche. I'd be crazy to just buy a whole trunk load of the things and not realise that it'd probably be high-speed wallet emptying - a generally very knowledgeable individual would do a lot better. If I could cherry pick it would be different, but I'm not sure @keziak 's person would care much for that.
