Just checking in.

Harrowing afternoon/evening.

Was getting ready to dive into the 1/2 bathroom with the cats and some couch cushions for head protection.

Tornado spotted out by the islands here (Tybee/Wilmington)  but no injuries/fatalities.  Some property damage and power issues.  Less than 15 mi away.

Yeah, this will likely be moved to some board I've never been.  Too bad there's no consideration for the regular selling board members too who make this place work.

Hang on, I am sure we can bring this "on topic" to stay in the forum...

Let's talk shipping. Do you think eBay will note this weather advisory in the announcements?

Did you have sales that will be impacted by "late shipping" from the tornado?

The bin of silverplate is over a year old.  I'm sure some of it in there is 2+ years.

When I moved to this house last July, I put it under my desk - and there it lives.

Don't look under my desk ... or in the closet .... I've got stuff from 2013 that's just now getting pulled out to list.

We keep finding things that we don't remember buying LOL. It got inventoried and stuck in a box for "later".

We did not purchase one thing for resale in May and only one set of Mikasa in April that is almost sold out already (that was a good deal ... 30 pieces for $10, made the 10 back plus on the 1st dinner plate).

But I have listed consistently for 2 months on just "laters"

Ahhh!  Those covered up surprises in the closet...

So, so glad you and the kitties are safe!  Remember, you can't sell it if you don't list it!

Thanks.

And I'm not not listing.  I'm not breaking any records either.  I only mustered 23 new listings this month and have 1 fully ready to launch today.

I'm just avoiding most of the old "later" stuff.

Oh my...Mr C doesn't cheat...he knows his stuff!

I had a listing for this very pattern back in 2010.

Remember, I am a dinosaur (grass eating one) we like OLD THINGS. I have boxes of silver and silverplate still sitting here.

Matter of fact I cut my teeth selling here in the collectibles/antiques categories. My first 5 grand or so came from them.

One of my first listings was for a Charter Oak serving ladel...it wasn't in the greatest shape but I loved watching that auction go nuts in the last couple of minutes. It hit $29...Happy dance by Mr C

lol @thenobletuckylife

I didn't cheat either.  I recognized it too because I've sold plenty of it over the years.   Silverplate flatware was one of my early ventures in eBay as I sold a lot of it in the shop too.  I still do some today but not nearly as much.

Nothing wrong with reference books 😃  But once I learn a pattern, I'm a bit Rainman-esque

Charter Oak is a very worthy pattern.  I picked up some Nenuphar not long ago too.  Arcadian turns a pretty penny too.

One day I saw a listing of Coronation...not the most in desired patterns but the seller had the old box as it's main picture.

I looked and looked...squinted and then said..."Mrs C...I have a winner.

It was a BRAND NEW box of serving spoons, the large ones. There were at least 18 or 20 pieces. I won the bid for $10.95 plus shipping.

I sold those puppies for $19.99 each with free shipping. Sweet find and a sweet buffer to my bottom line.

Her a couple of years ago Mrs C was at a yard sale in town. When she came she greeted me with a smile. She handed me a plastic bag of flatware and souvenir teaspoons.

I about fell over myself because even from a distance I knew she made out well.

I said...oh my...let me see that...oh my how much did you pay? She said 5 bucks.

Well there was about 27 pieces in the bag and most of it was sterling. I sold a set of 7 sterling teaspoons that brought in $99...listed several others and came out over $200 and I probably still have 8 to 10 pcs left. I asked her about it awhile ago...she has no idea where she put them...ah the Mrs C.

Too funny.  I just put a dozen souvenir spoons, mostly international, into my tote and I'm leaving for the shop in 5 min.
