Items do no remove from active listings once sold on ebay

This issue was never resolved and it has not worked like this before until now.  Before once I sold an item it would remove from active listings. 

Today when I sell an item it remains on the active listing page and listed it as out of stock.  The out of stock has replaced ended listings too. Or perhaps they work back and forth. 

I read in a previous thread it was resolved and it never was.   I read that ebay refuses to acknowledge and fix it as well but that was in 2017 and so I wanted to see if anyone was able to figure it out.

Thank you, I've been looking for a solution to this problem for weeks.   It seems that many sellers had this question as it appears often.  Every solution says to go to the preferences and uncheck the OOS option.  I was surprised to see that it was checked in my preferences.  So, yes, thank you, I unchecked it as directed.     My question is: now I went back to my Active list expecting to see the sold items removed, but they are still there.  I read in one response to remove them manually - ok.   Unfortunately, there isn't a SOLD option as a reason.  Am I overthinking this?  Should I just check "not available" and move on?   Hopefully, future sold items will not remain active now that I unchecked that box.   My main concern is -- by remaining on the active list -- are these sold items "resisting" and counting toward my free insertion number?

Just end them.  Yes, they count toward your free listings.  My guess what be that the quantity reverts back to original number upon relisting.
