Item was not properly refunded

I sold an item on eBay, the item was delivered and the buyer said it didn’t work. Keep in mind he had no feedback. That was my mistake I should’ve canceled the order but I didn’t.

 

eBay sent me an email saying a return has been filed. I had no control to deny or accept the refund. It stated that the buyer had until April 13th to return the item. I didn’t get the item and I got another email from eBay saying the claim was escalated and they were stepping in. I was confused because first of all I didn’t get an email asking me to do anything other than wait for the item.

Then I got another email saying the refund has been approved, what! I didn’t approve anything. I had no option to like the other times. The buyer “scammer” was awarded my item and $100. This is not fair. 

ebay needs to step it up and protect us sellers. They know there are scammers and scammers know eBay and do it very well. We suffer they get 2 birds with one stone. 

I need this overturned.

Of the available options, which reason would you have selected to cancel the transaction?

 

  • problem with buyer's address
  • item out of stock or damaged
  • buyer requested to cancel
  • buyer has not paid for the item

You've described exactly how it works when a seller doesn't respond to a buyer's Money Back Guarantee return/refund request. It might be a good idea to spend some time reading up on how eBay's Money Back Guarantee works and what your responsibilities are in the return process.

You know the buyer can report the feedback you left and you'll get hit with a policy violation.
