Hello eBay Community,
I have noticed that the category I frequently list items in has changed in the 'Item Condition' selection area. I have tried looking this up through forums and eBay news of any updates on categories and item condition, but have had no luck. The listings I have are typically within "Health & Beauty > Vitamins & Lifestyle Supplements > Sports Supplements" and for two years I was able to post within "open-box" and within the last two weeks any listings I have attempted to post within this category now only allows "New" and no other options. if anyone could educate me or push me into the right direction to understand if these changes are made public by providing an official link, could you please let me know, thank you.

I have no answer but to say vitamins that are not in a new unopened box probably should not be listed on Ebay. Maybe they have a rule now that you can only list new vitamins?

Hello Coolections,
I was thinking the same thing that they may have changed rules around regarding supplements of any kind. I just do not know where to find those kinds of updates or do not know why it isn't easily viewable on eBay news if that is the case. The items I do list are always factory sealed and unopened (bottle itself). I usually open the initial box they are in to inspect the bottle and provide photos of the bottles I sell. Sometimes for packing purposes and convenience I either include or do not include the box, but other than that the product itself is in great condition with none of the capsule/tablets/softgels being opened or used prior to being sold on eBay. That is why open-box has always been appropriate to use for my listings. I miss the old days when I could just call customer service and get quick responses from eBay's team on issues that I cannot find online, but those days are gone.

For an ingestible, it's kind of understandable but anything in that category gets that restriction even if the product still has a safety seal. I ended up not listing some hypoallergenic tape because the box had been opened.
Buy don't feel lonesome. I tried list a tool and could only get New as the option. Had to use the collectible category to get Used. Same thing for other random partial NEW contents of open boxes, like nails.
Open Box option just isn't there for lots of things.

@waluigi_the_squeegee The prohibited and restricted items policy states vitamins must be in new condition in unopened/undamaged original packaging.
Looking back through the Internet Archive, it looks like that policy page has said that since at least February 2022.
My guess would be they've had to crack down on it by removing other condition options, likely due to regulatory pressure as I know the FDA and FTC are paying very close attention to these types of products being sold online.

Thank you for the kind and understandable reply. It is helpful when individuals share their own experience to give some more perspective when listing items.
