I recently sold an item and had the buyer claim that it was not working. I had fully tested it before shipping it out and I was sure that it was in working condition, but they filed the return as "item defective" so ebay forced me to accept the return. I got the return in the mail yesterday and the item they sent me was different than the item that shipped out. They took the item I sent them, installed it in their car, claimed that I sent a broken item, and returned the broken part out of their car. I opened a case with ebay, including photos of the item they sent me, and of course ebay sides with the buyer. Ultimately, this sucks but it's just the cost of doing business.
This next part is what I'm really not alright with.
The buyer proceeds to leave a nasty negative feedback on my page saying that I'm a con artist and I'm selling stolen car parts. I requested for ebay to remove this feedback, as it's obviously false and I'm not selling stolen goods, but ebay denied my claim.
My question is, is there anything I can do to solve this? I would like to appeal their decision, both on the ruling in favor of the buyer and on the fraudulent feedback, but I can't figure out how.

Lodge an appeal with eBay

I can't file an appeal from there because this dispute doesn't show up in the list of transactions with defects. It's missing there.

Usually when you land on that page, it only shows the "open" ones....click to see the ones that are "closed"

Here's what you do
File a police report with your local PD - download the report when its made available
File a IC3 Fraud report
File a USPS Fraud report
Contact eBay and let them know you want to appeal it (since you don't have the option) and they will open the appeal for you, provide the 3 reports above and cross your fingers that you'll get someone with more common sense than a rock.
