Good morning and happy weekend to ya'll!
I opened my ebay seller page this fine morning only to see over half of my store needing "Add recommended item specifics" (which is always caught up...until now).
Ok, nothing new that we aren't used to, ebay updated all the card listings to have a "signed by" in the item description now.
The issue I have is this applies to ALL CARDS, not just ones that have Autographed checked "Yes".
So, as usual, I go into bulk edit to change this to a "NA" or something to that effect so I don't see all these add specifics on my home page.
Although, it doesn't allow to bulk change that.
So what to do?
Thanks for reading and hopefully solving this issue or giving an idea for a fix, besides going through multiple thousand listings to change each one.
Also, there is an issue with the new graded/ungraded that is a mess as well, but yall already know that one, at least that one didn't break the system too bad....

Personally, (not trying to advise here just stating how I approach this issue)... I ignore certain "recommended" item specifics because they are completely irrelevant and contradict with what the item actually is or consists of. I have many items that "recommend" I add certain item specifics. I only add the ones I feel are relevant to avoid confusion. Though I would advise to never automatically add whatever they are suggesting to be added. I view item specifics as a machine, AI perhaps, learning about items, yet often find the recommended details do not even apply to my listings. It needs to grow more in it's judgement over what is best for details vs my own judgement of that.
I guess my point is "add recommended item specifics" is something I ignore. I add the ones I deem relevant and helpful to the listing when I first list the item, and ignore any further prompted recommendations, because it's usually just more completely unnecessary time wasted.

Totally agree with your points!
I just feel that anytime ebay suggests we do something, it helps with search and our items showing up better for our customers, so it has always been a habit of mine to fill in what I can.
And, it bothers my OCD mind to see 3,XXX "add item specifics" when I open seller hub. =(

I think you're really asking about a bulk edit or change on that, and my response didn't really address that at all. I totally respect the importance of SEO and I absolutely agree with you on that aspect. (it is extremely important!) Sometimes they just recommend odd things that have nothing to do with the item and are counterproductive to what it even is.
N/A should be a universal, accepted setting if that's what they're asking for.
I have a few cards listed and just clicked on a couple to actually look at their recommendations to item specifics, and that was not one of them. "signed by or autographed by".
Good luck to you 🙂

I started filling them in and when I completed them, they reverted to the new system of grading but didn't transfer over my notes that were put into the used condition line.
These are supposed to be transferred over by eBay automatically. So I have stopped doing the recommended changes. The change isn't necessary on most as I originally listed as NOT autographed and the change, they seek is signed by who. It's Not signed by anyone as it already states Not Autographed. I did around 300 of the changes and lost a lot of info as in the line for used, which was where I put the defects with the card. All that work is now lost. I spoke to someone on the phone from eBay Authenticity, and he was passing this info up the line at eBay. This is what he said. I'm not filling any more of the recommendations until they sort this out. I have another 750 as of this morning waiting for me.
The reason I always put the defects in that line was because it then showed up to the right of the photograph at top of listing. This was the best spot to put it as most people only look at the picture to buy and never look and read at the bottom. Especially on the phone app which is how many shop on eBay. I never had a return or complaints about flaws doing it this way.

"Required" item specifics are necessary. "Recommended" ones are optional and subject to your judgment as to whether they are worth your time and effort. Unless you think it may be critical to a buyer's search, save your energy for changes that could be important to you and to a buyer. If it's not important, just leave it blank -- adding NA or "Does Not Apply" is not necessary on recommended specifics.
I've got a lot of "recommended" specifics that are left totally blank because they have nothing to do with the item I'm selling, or they are there just because someone at eBay thought it would be cool to add them ad nauseam. I'm not moved at all with the .0001% of the population who may be concerned about "Lighting Technology" or "Battery Type" in my listing for a candy dish (yes, they're really there in my Mikasa listing's recommended item specifics!)
Cheers, Duffy

I have the same problem as you but I sell stamps. I just ignore it. I find being very specific about your item will only get a look by a buyer who is looking for something very specific. I prefer some of my items to be more placed in the general category. I was surprised how some items I have listed were shown in only a very specific category.
