Issue with a courier - buyer filed a chargeback

Hello

I sold an item through ebay, used Royal Mail Tracked 48 to ship it and it was delivered - their photo evidence clearly shows the parcel that I sent. However the buyer is claiming they didn't receive it. I have raised a claim with Royal Mail on their behalf, and advised them of such but they then raised an ebay dispute which I responded to but before that concluded they have now raised a chargeback via their credit card company.

I have responded again providing all the information, proof of delivery, proof of postage etc and advised that I have raised a claim with Royal Mail on their behalf. How likely is their chargeback to succeed? It seems like it shouldn't but I've never been in this situation before. Their dispute is with Royal Mail not me or ebay.

The Royal Mail claim said they would decide within 30 days and the timeframe for the chargeback dispute is 2-8 weeks, so it's a coin flip as to which will be resolved first. Ebay says I qualify for seller protection on the chargeback dispute, so hopefully proof of courier delivery is enough. If the RM claim is successful then I will of course refund the buyer but it seems very uncertain if it will be because they clearly did deliver it. However it was delivered to a "safe space" and the buyer is claiming they never authorised this so who knows.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

@shp0ngled

Your claim with Royal Mail is going to fail if the tracking shows delivered, don't waste your time on that.

Go to this page on the UK site

If you follow the proper procedure you should be covered.

You might want to check with the UK discussion boards, there could be some slight differences in the process between the US and UK sites.
