Is this negative feedback removable?

I'm guessing it's not, but figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

I sell NWT baby/kid clothes. I don't take returns, but sometimes make exceptions if the item is still in the original condition, depending on why buyer is asking. Obviously if they open a case I'm stuck taking the return unless they admit that the item is as described and they just changed their minds (and a few have been dumb enough to do that, LOL) but in 6 years I've only had 2 people who claimed the item was damaged to force a return send it back and there was nothing wrong with it. So the policy works for me... anyway...

I sold, for $8 shipped, a new with tags pair of baby pajamas. They are required by law to be snug fit. The buyer received the size they ordered, but was upset the pajamas were too tight on their child. I replied that unfortunately the law requires them to be that tight, but maybe they didn't know that, so I would make an exception and take the item back if it still had the tags attached. However, they removed the tags before checking if it fit their child, so I didn't take the return.

Buyer left feedback "Not the correct size. Does not fit child. Won't take back."

I'm pretty frustrated since even though the listing said no returns and they received what they ordered, I did offer to make an exception if the item still had tags attached since maybe they didn't know that the pajamas are legally required to fit this way, but I didn't want to get back a used item with no tags.

I'm guessing I'm stuck with the feedback but just wondering if anyone had any luck getting a negative removed in similar circumstances?

Yes, you are stuck.  You should have just taken the return.  While it may be by law that the sizing on the pajamas must be snug, there is no law that says the parents have to dress their kids in snug pajamas.  It is just an argument you are not going to win.  It would have been just better to take them back.  Sorry!

If the tags were still on, I would have taken it back, but the buyer admitted the condition was no longer the same as I sent it in. Considering I can't even sell my own kid's used PJs from this brand for $2, the item would have been a total loss, while if it was NWT still, I could have sold it to someone else and gotten some of the money back. I guess I just wouldn't expect any business to take back an item if I took tags off before checking if it would work for me.

I guess I'll just deal with the negative and put a note on the listings for these types of items in the future that they are required to be snug fit by law and to buy a larger size if needed.

Buyers here expect to get just about anything they want. I never cease to be amazed at the (seemingly) daily increase in their expectations.  LIke the woman who sent me a return request today for a new bathing suit she bought 6 weeks ago. Now that Summer is winding down, the new bathing suit (all 18 bucks worth of what was originally a 75 dollar suit) I sold her shows wear and so she opened a SNAD request. As it was far past the 30 day return time I offer,  I declined to refund. I do understand your situation--and sometimes, especially recently, with the very few protections we are afforded--it is difficult not to almost gloat about our "wins."

However, two things struck me about your post. The first being, that I find it in very poor taste to call your former customers "dumb." I won't go over all the reasons buyers leave eBay, as those reasons have been talked into the ground many times here, but it certainly isn't helping things on any level to take such a negative stance towards our trading partners on a public forum.

Secondly, I am wondering why you would ever think it is appropriate to tell a mother how her child's clothing should fit? Not wanting to take the clothing back because the tags were removed--OK--but I would think that after being here for a couple of years that you might know better than to argue with a demanding buyer. You kept talking about making special exceptions for returns, in your post. But you, in fact, did not make an exception for this buyer--you instead clung stubbornly to your policy. I am actually surprised she didn't just open a SNAD and be done with it. In any case, she still had the so-called final word--and took her 8 bucks back with a piece of your business.  Nobody came out a winner, or even close to satisfied, on this one.

There is no way you could have known if the pajamas were, in fact, too tight for her child. And if the pajamas run small, then perhaps instead of blaming the buyer for being uninformed, perhaps you could maybe take this situation as a learning lesson and change YOUR listings to reflect/inform your buyers how your pajamas fit. Just a thought.....

But I think the lesson to be learned here is that we, as sellers, run into all types of people/buyers, and every situation needs to handled in its own special way. You dropped the ball here with this buyer--in some way, you made her angry, and she had an unpleasant buying experience--and there is a lesson here for you to learn, if you should choose to look for it. But I do have to say--if you came across to her, with the same dismissive, stubborn, and insulting tone as you used here on the forum--then I can certainly see why she left that negative.  It isn't just the buyers who need to take personal responsibility when things go South sometimes.

It boggles my mind that someone would refer to their customers as 'dumb' on a public forum where many buyers will see it.

I only have one thing to say.

"Too tight" is not "snug".

There is a difference between something that fits snugly and something that is too tight. One is comfortable (and safe) on the child, the other is uncomfortable (and maybe unsafe) for the child.

Baby jammies should be snug so that the child does not get tangled in them. But they should not, for example, cut off their circulation 😞

I think that your condescending and borderline rude response that "maybe you didn't know that" has come back to bite you.

I doubt you''ll be able to get the negative removed . E bay considers negative  feedback only one buyers opinion  and not a set in stone testimony  regarding all of your business transactions. A long time ago a buyer contacted me asking  what kind of a deal I could give her  if she bought three of my necklaces . So we agreed to a price before she made the purchases . This was MY error  because I didn't check her location  before making the agreement . I believed she was an American resident  but it turned out she lived outside of the U.S . I didnt know this until after she paid and I printed out the label. The shipping costs ate up all profit . I contacted her to explain this and asked if she would be willing to reimburse me on the extra shipping ,, big mistake . Not only did she not reimburse the extra shipping she left negative feedback calling me a scammer who goes after my buyers for more money after the sale goes through . Of course this wasn't true  generally speaking ,, so I contacted e bay  ,, nothing they would do about it . They considered it an opinion . However the negative vanished after a year and everything is okay again. Tulips

Why would you want to do business with dumb buyers?

What is the benefit of letting dumb buyers hit more targets?

Color me stupid, but there's a law that says that baby pyjamas have to be snug??

Granted it's been 20 years since I've bought baby pyjamas, but I always dressed mine in those little gowns with the drawstring or snaps at the bottom.  They were far from snug, they were quite loose, baby had plenty of room to move, but the closure at the bottom kept them all covered. A lot more comfortable for baby and safe, too.

I'm guessing you're talking about those horrible one piece footie things? When my grandson was here I had to put him in one of those things. It was almost impossible lol

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.
