I’m looking to suspend my sales while I go on a week vacation next week. I am concerned someone will purchase and item and I won’t be able to get it shipped out in a timely fashion. Any suggestions?

Since you don't have a store you can't do vacation mode. You have two options

What I have always done is I push out my handling time making sure that I am covering the time that I am away.
i.e. if I am planning on being gone for 7 days I extend my handling time to 10 Business Days.
This way I continue to receive sales while I am away and have a fat stack of cash when I return.

As noted in the other post, your options include extended handling time, or ending and relisting.
Since all of your listings are fixed price, there is a third option: Activate the "Out of stock" option in your site preferences, and then change the "Quantity available" in your listings to Zero. The listings will be hidden from buyers, and not available for purchase, until you change the quantity again.

3. open an eBay store and then use the vacation settings it offers. A starter store is pretty cheap. I don't know if it can be processed in time for your vacation however.

The only way you can do it without a store is to change your handling time to 8 days. Then revise it again when you return. Even if you have a store you still have to change the handling time.

Before it hit the fan for doing much traveling this year, we regularly went on vacations of up to three weeks. I just extend my handling times, and as long as I was somewhere I could access my account I'd adjust the handling time downward as we got closer to heading for home. I also send "thank you for your purchase, I wanted to be sure you saw the extended handling time" notes. Never have had an issue and most people respond with "have a good vacation".
