In ebay's infinite wisdom they have again created a problem. Do they ever fix them at a higher ratio than create them?
Anyways is there a way, when listing, to get the box for global shipping to not automatically default to checked?
It's ridiculous and I list around 30 items every night. Once in a great while, since it's still kind of new I forget to uncheck the box. Hasn't been a problem until now. I now have a customer that bought a pretty light item for 30.00 from Australia . Well anyone that ships internationally knows USPS dropped first class because of the ridiculous covid restrictions. Now I either have to ship it priority mail for 68.83 or UPS for 45.03 when they charged him 25.00 which would then force me to buy my postage from ebay. I use Pirate ship, an awesome company with real customer service. So to avoid the same problem in the future I want to make sure those boxes stay unchecked.
I will handle my own international shipping without ebay manipulating my business anymore than they already do. They put it to me on shipping before, which is why I went to Pirate ship in the first place.

I am in Australia, and when I purchase from a seller who has GSP I always ask if they enter the dimensions and weight of the package before I buy. If a seller does this the GSP is not much more expensive than UPS
I prefer the GSP as customs etc is all included when I pay and no surprises at this end. Is there a reason you can not ship to Au with GSP ?
Sorry, I have edited to say I can not see GSP on any of your current solds or current listings, so I apologise if I have misunderstood your question

I prefer if at all possible to not use ebay for shipping EVER AGAIN. They changed something midstream a few years ago and did nothing to help me resolve the problem, chasing me to pay pal for shipping, then finally to Pirate ship, might have been when they went to managed payments as I no longer got any money in Pay Pal to cover the shipping.
I have many countries I ship to all the time and after selling over 10 years, shipping probably well over $100,000 in merchandise with no trouble. I don't need them to screw up the way I do things.
Call it resisting change if you want , but it was their change that drove me to Pirate ship in the first place. Did I mention how happy I am with their service? See how happy I am with Ebay's Service?

As a sometimes Canadian buyer who purchases from US sellers and speaking to them along the way, many sellers have discovered they were enrolled in that program without their knowledge. Which includes not knowing the perils of the program. There was a tap "somewhere" in the past where you could bypass the program on a case by case basis. Not sure if it is still available and has to be clicked before buyer purchases. It sure would be nice if it was still available.
Kudo's to you for choosing not to use the program. Sellers like you are few and far between. Your decision is extremely appreciated!! 🙂

Instructions for opting out of GSP below. Fingers crossed it works. Opting out for 1 active listing next line.

I just followed the steps and it let me opt out. I have no idea why I was opted in. I never recall selecting to be enrolled. I think they automatically did it with an update in hopes of roping a bunch of people in unsuspectingly.
Thanks for the help.

Over my years on eBay I've learned the word "automagically". Personally, I prefer the motto, the best surprise is no surprise. Glad you were about to solve and opt out. I think if more sellers (especially low dollar items knew the perils and how it punishes Canadian buyers) they would opt out in a heartbeat.

Is there a way to get the Global shipping program box to default to unchecked?
This one irks me every time I go to 'Sell Similar'... even though the original didn't have the GSP box checked.
So far, so good, but every now and then, I do a bulk edit and 'Remove GSP from all' just to be safe.

That's what I got upset over. Everything I sell, is similar to the previous item I listed so I use sell similar every single time where everything stays the same, except that box kept coming up as checked, that's why I missed it. Even the shipping details don't change so you forget to look at the shipping details every single time you list. Nothing else changes, why should that? Just glad I hopefully found the opt out and it sticks. Thanks again for the help.

I've wondered same. I don't ship internationally at all right now, and even have my Ships To 'Exemption' shizz all set up.
In my opinion, the default checkmark sets me up for failure. Sure don't need any more help with that here. 😑
