Is there a way to find out what items are most sold, and most searched, on ebay?

I don't know if eBay releases those statistics, but sometimes you can figure out what is frequently searched by typing in a few letters in search and perusing the list of options that comes up. Usually this is based on what is frequently typed in as keywords.

As for what sells the best, eBay has said things like electronics and Nike shoes sell well but I haven't seen statistics and I don't know if a third-party company has been keeping track.

Recently sold items can be searched and filtered.

Use the watchcount website. 

they say there are over 26,000 watchers on an apple iPhone 5 with 23,000 watchers on an apple iPhone 6

iPhone 5 posted above sold 77,751.   Note this is 1 seller not all of them combined

iPhone 6 posted above sold 38,404 and again this number is from 1 seller  listing

you can search by  each category too over there if you  are interested in a certain category only.

Normal, small eBay sellers won't be able to compete with them.

Thanks, gopete. Great site. However, when you click on the eBay marketplace within the article, Terapeak now costs 144.00 per year to do your research? Poster Zamo-Zan did say on other posts Tera used to be free, I think ebay bought it? Now it costs. Unless I am wrong here. Just crazy.

If I remember correctly, I think in a ecommercebytes article sometime back, an ebay employee came out and admitted they let the chinese know what was trending and predicted trends. They didn't say why, but obviously that info would let them know what items to start making fakes of.
