Is it time to leave if you don't make enough money without going into bank to pay eBay?

My sales are so bad I had to transfer money to refund a customer a take a hit because the transfer took more than 5 days.

My sales are bad enough that my credit card is what is allowing to keep going on eBay NOT my sales..

Hence, that being said, is that time for me to take my toys and go?

Thanks

You are not the government. You can not continue to operate at a loss. It just doesn't work for us that way  :  >  (

Exactly, but I wonder how many sellers out there keep throwing that bait line out and getting no fish?

It is always in anyone's best $$ interest to know when to throw in the towel...not look back and wish we did something different, waited, sold other stuff, tried other descriptions. The results are still the same..

Let's not make it about money, how about are you satisfied with what eBay provides you?

Have you tried other sites to see how they work out?

I believe if your sales are so bad that you don't want to be here, then you need to see what else the world has to offer.  Not leaving ebay, simply testing the waters.

If you are not earning money from your business venture it may indeed be time to consider if you wish to continue the venture in its present form.

If what eBay provides is not making sales/money for many sellers (as myself)then their service is irrelevant.
I pay to make $$ as a seller/customer this is not the stock market..

If sales don't improve by July I wont be renewing it. Had 1 sale in 3 days and it is a cancel. Can't support the store without the income.

Selling is a gamble

Some would say selling on eBay is merely an opportunity, where you can possibly earn big, little, or even lose money

Personally, I would ditch any advertising agencies that aren't profitable.

Selling should be a sum of its parts. One sale at a loss? Or operating on credit? Two different issues.

I sell on this ID with pretty much zero cost into the item. Everything I sell was purchased by me, used (or a lot of not used in my case) by me or my immediate family of 9.  I've gotten all I ever wanted out of it or it wouldn't be listed.

I have other IDs for antiques and collectibles that I have an absolute ROI for. Bought it for the sole purpose of profit.

What is your goal?

One of the perks - some even consider it an obligation - of most of the places that offer the opportunity to sell is that they have decent programming, customer service reps., a form of getting their name out into the face of the public other than through word-of-mouth of media chat groups and bad-mouthing consumer groups.  Getting the word about a platform out to 'the street' is only good for the stockholders.

What you describe seems more like a cash flow problem than a sales problem. I see about $450 in sold items on this account since January 1 ... how much was the return? Is there a reason you did not leave yourself a cushion in your account for returns?

I see about $450 in sales on this account this month ... what has been your historical sales volume?

There are always going to be ups and downs with selling online. The trick is to even them out and you can only do that in good times. If you wait until you need new resources it will never work. I always spread my expectations for profit out over at least six months and list or buy only what I need to get there. If you are financing inventory or depending on sales for pleasure buying, it really limits your options. My net revenue in January was less than $150, but I am not even a little concerned and will make whatever adjustments are needed to bring it up.
