I do not consider it strange. There is a name for it—the ebb and flow of retail. It could be compared to a living, breathing thing, moving at times, stagnant at others. It cannot be expected to remain unchanged.
Due in part to technological advances, we sellers have experienced some interesting and essential rhythms in retail today. As a result, we can forecast sales and predict inventory needs, for example, all roughly based on the main selling seasons for most vendors. However, there are no guarantees that what worked for last season will repeat in this, so fast moving are the influences.
Retail is vastly complex. Like living organisms, the variables are often individualistic and can be difficult to quantify at times. Because we sell different items, in different cultures, in different markets, etc. all across the globe.
