Thanks. Asking for a friend. I've personally never run into that one.

Scammers ask for a PayPal address so they can send fake PayPal emails that state payment has been made.

I assume this is in relation to something a buyer purchased and is wanting to pay for but regardless there is NO reason a buyer would ever need your name or your PayPal information for ANY reason. This is the beginning stages of a scam. If the buyer has purchased something and has not paid simply ride it out either the buyer pays or after 4 days eBay will close the item out as an unpaid item case and your friend can relist and the buyer receives a strike. If that happens tell you friend to add them to their BBL.

Likely a scam. I have a buyer or two say hey if I pay you through PP will you give me a discount since the fees will be less.
Never do this. Tell them to pay via eBay and if need be offer to cancel the transaction.

One should NEVER respond to the "text me" scammers. Unfortunately, if they use the real "make offer" feature, you don't know you have one until you 'accept'. They aren't going to pay.

A LONG time ago, the use of your real name was supposed to be an indication of the validity of the communication, as opposed to "dear eBay user". Of course, that no longer holds true but that may be the reason they wanted the name.
