After being eBay for 22 years (yes, I started in 1998), I find that I am now prohibited from listing any fountain pens despite selling several in the past with perfect feedback. I the robo-notice I received that I have not sold enough items in "similar" categories to be eligible to list fountain pens. So how can I generate the required number of sales when I am PROHIBITED FROM LISTING ANYTHING IN THAT CATEGORY???
I'm DONE with fleaBay! There is always Etsy and Facebook groups as well FPN.

I can't help with this, sorry. However, I would like to ask - are you in Managed Payments?
(I carry an old Burgandy Meisterstuck Rollerball w/Mystery Black - great stuff!)

Call Customer Support.
I'm amazed that fountain pens are a category that might be restricted.
Could you post a sample Title and Description?
We had a straight razor collector on the Canada Board recently whose purchase was stopped at Erlanger by the GSP bots who spotted that it was advertised with a "mother of pearl" handle, although the actual material was celluloid/plastic.
There may have been a word used that triggered the bots. Tortoiseshell? Mother of Pearl?

There has always a factor of fraud in listings in the high end fountain pen area.
Hence the limitations.

I'd be more concerned with the Chinese writing...

I have to say that ebay is using its head for this one. I am just as sure that if you are trying to enter into the LV market or Prada market or any simliar name from certain countries that ebay will notice it.It dos nt mean that its fair, its just that ebay wants to contol entry to certain markets.
If you want to be able to sell certain items than it can be done in small amounts maybe and work your way up.Ebay is eager to assist many sellers but it does not want them just jumping in with certain names

I just have to add that I did read what they say in the response.Maybe you need to sell some low end pens like cross and scheafer ,parker and older pens that do not go for a lot.I am unsure if you are trying to sell new pens or older ones with low value. My guess is that if you sell some inexpensive vintage pens and build up some numbers then you will be allowed to continue selling better ones in the future

It's on the .com site. I wouldn't think location would matter, .com is supposed to be in English, or so I thought.
