When I log on to The Community about mid-morning EST there are usually anywhere from about 2900 to 5500 members logged on. This morning there were over 10,000. So is The Community growing or are the extra people having more issues than normal or trying to learn more about all the changes eBay is making?
Not sure how to figure that out but that is a significant jump in The Community involvement.

It's probably a glitch. I don't trust any counters anywhere on Ebay any more.

Well I guess I didn't see that coming!?! You mean like Views and Watcher counts ... below is a pic from the other day ... first time I recall seeing 0 Views and a Watcher (3rd item down) ... like how can someone Watch an item if they haven't Viewed it first? Does Watching "carry over" from the Watch list? I don't think so because I have many items end with watchers and when I relist they are ... gone.

That's an easy answer. You can modify the search result pages to add a watch button. I put items on my watchlist all the time without viewing them first. I don't want to stop and open up the listing which takes time and may mean I miss a better opportunity down the page.

@the*dog*ate*my*tablecloth Ahhhh, thanks ... here I go learning stuff again ...

That's one way. Another is to add an item to your watchlist from your saved searches feed without opening the listing.

It could have to do with the seller boot camp, and the community chat board dedicated to boot campers. Lots of people signed up who don't normally frequent the boards.

@hioctane62 Good point on the Boot Camp ...

That depends upon your definition of "community".
If your definition of community is the number of people logged in at any time, then the answer is apparently "yes".

Yes, exactly ... more people here means more people coming for knowledge on all sorts of topics or here to share experience of both positive and negative nature.

When I get on the boards, I never see a log in counter. Where is it at?

Would it be too cynical to say that it must be that the scammers are now reading the forums to find better ways to beat the system.

I just started using the community boards, for no reason other than questions. After 5 years of selling too. So I think there are just more questions.
More uncertainty, less incentive to invest.
What your stating is very true. It's the primary reason why the stock market shot up like a rocket and then suddenly entered a roller coaster ride. Businesses need to know that the future selling platform and policies are not going to be unknown and ever changing. They need structure and not chaos.
eBay mirrors the past admins practices of uncertainty in the regulations, that led to uncertainty in the market. When Trump started cutting all the regs and freeing up businesses to be able to do business without interfering with them, the markets rose. Once the fed started up with its maybe we will raise rates and maybe we will not, the markets tanked, and went up, and then tanked again on every announcement of uncertainty.
Tariffs are doing the same thing. Businesses have to to guess what the effects will be on them. eBay is the same way. They leave us hanging as to what changes are coming next, and what will the economic costs be to us to conform with any of the changes that are made. eBay's constant changes have the sellers stressed out half the time wondering how much longer they will still be in business. That's a very poor business practice for eBay to continue doing.

The logged in counter is on the first banner ad on the ebay community home page.
