This invite arrived mid-March, following a short period (March 2023) of a complete lack of sales/offers etc. (same for many sellers from what I have read), eBay offered a 50% discount on click billing.
I thought about it for a short while and decided to test the water, what happened next was a huge increase in offers, however, not one offer breached the 50% of value mark, most were in the 30c on $ range, I rejected (or countered) every one.
Meanwhile, my click rate was going crazy and I could see my spend climbing rapidly (I had pre-set daily limits in place), the net result is that I sold nothing, I earned myself a handsome click fee negative balance, I withstood it for a while, I attracted strong interest across the board, I soon came to the conclusion that things were simply not going to pan out, I am waiting for the 50% discount to activate, I was billed at full price per click.
It didn't work for me, perhaps some other sellers had a more positive experience.

People need to follow Nancy Reagan's advice on drugs and Just Say No to Promoted Listings.
I've never used PL and I'm starting to believe eBay is sabotaging it's own capacity to sell items to make it look like sellers need PL. The 15% they already take is enough. For any more, I simply don't need to sell here.

I have resisted the pay to play ploy, and after reading this testimonial, I am even more determined not to fall victim to it.

I got that too. I have been selling on ebay since 1998. After several years I created a rule that I have been following since then and it served me well and helped me to avoid all kinds of ebay related stress.
"Never sign up for whatever ebay offers, unless it is mandatory. "
BTW this promotion should be reworded
...participate in the new promoted listings to help ebay make more money.

Sometimes on eBay, it's as we say in The South... "Once you're pickled, you can never be a cucumber again." 😐

I wouldn't even try it, it was a trap that google did 20 years ago

Really, stay away from those promotion unless you're a multibillion dollar company, they will deplete your account in one week no matter how much you have in it, or what fake discount they offer.
Ask an experienced and don't ask a doctor.

Of course they did!!! There is NO proof that PL increases sales. Sellers that fall into the PL trap have a couple of choices.
1. Bear the cost of using PL which reduces the sellers profits or ROI.
2. Raise their prices to incorporate the cost of the PL into the price of the item so the buyer is actually
paying the PL cost.

I might add I clicked on promote and GREEDbay recommends the dynamic campaign currently at 9.6%, so that's almost a quarter cut TOTAL, when adding all the fees. That's even way more than 10% to the BIG GUY. Dang! lol
9.6%, if FEEbay needs more revenue, believe me you... it will be recommended at 50% or more.
