Interesting Return Statistic

I was watching Good Morning, America this a.m....

They interviewed the CEO or General Manager or whoever of the biggest secondary market company in the US.

They handle returns and/or buy  leftover goods from tiny stores to conglomerate chains.

Guess what the NATIONAL RETURN AVERAGE is?

Brick and Mortars - 8% of goods

Online Purchases - 20 to 25% of goods purchased

When I buy something online, I make sure I don't put too much effort on thinking that if it doesn't fit, or whatever, I am going to return it. No, I put more effort on educating myself about what I am buying and blame myself for buying it.

Like the last time a holster for my iPhone came. I am not kidding you, I put one of the coves on my phone, put it inside the holster, and opening the clip I was when it broke. I am talking about maybe 5 minutes into opening the box and it was broken! Smiley Very Happy

It was and it is the only time I felt bad to call the seller and asked him for a replacement or a refund. He played the "oh, no more in stock so how about $5 refund?" I accepted it because I could still use the cover for the phone.

Where I see most of the returns I know of is shoes and clothing. People think that there's a uniform, tight requirement on all sizes from different manufacturers being one. No! Nike and Reebok may not have the same measurements. One can fit you, the other won't. So, why playing I don't know if you know? Go to the store mom or dad! Stop chatting all day long and try them on for a change.  Smiley Very Happy

That reminds me of my job as a shoe clerk. "can I have this color in size 6?".....hmmm...…..how about the purple one? Or, the black one on this style? Or.........wow! you found it!  Can you put them on my feet please? Smiley Very Happy Smiley Very Happy Smiley Very Happy

Sadly, sometimes even that doesn't help.  I bought a pair of pants from a store that fit me perfectly.  Went online to order the exact same pants in a different color because I liked the first pair so much, and that pair was nearly an inch shorter than the pair I bought from the store!

With clothes that is definitely me. I lost weight and am between sizes at the moment so each garment is a cr-pshoot.

Yep, I was mad because they didn't have those pants in that color in my size in the store, so I figured I'd just order them off the website.  Nope...
