Have not looked into the criteria for the Grant Application Process, but would think that to be impactful, at least $10k would be needed to assist a business to launch to another level. Have no idea who or how they select those awarded the Grants, but would hope these individual businesses come in all shapes, sizes, types of ownership, constraints, etc.
Just because you are selling a lot, does not mean you are net earning a lot. Your overhead is likely different with employees, business expenses that vary from a work from home Seller, etc. Gross profit and net profit, especially with everything that occurred with the past 18 months, could really vary. A sole-proprietor, working from their home, could actually have a much better ROI than a much bigger business with benefit costs, labor costs, etc.
Understand where you are coming from. Hopeful, that whoever is selected, it accomplishes what it was intended for and creates opportunities not only for that Seller but for others. When that happens, it creates the opportunity for a future "pay it forward" scenario, which would be really nice.
