Insertion Fees?

Is there a glitch or something else? I get an email telling of a charge for $23.50 coming to my back account. I see a group of "10" listings referring to this charge at .35 per listing? I also notice they are for 5 day listings. When I look at the first listing of that group and I see it is for 7 days as I listed it for. Any thoughts?

By a rough count you have created about 200 listings in March plus you have 80 that are currently active. Those add up to more than the 250 free insertions that you get each month. Go over the 250 and you start to get charged.

I thought it was 500 free listings. I may be wrong? I should have waited until after the 1st!

It's NEVER been 500, it used to be 50. When it was 50 eBay was still handing out one off promotions of free listings but that all went away 5 or 6 years ago.

Sellers who don't have a Store subscription get 250 free insertions per month, which can be used for (1) new listings; (2) relists; or (3) when a fixed price listing rolls over, which is on the same date each month as the date when the listing began (March 30, April 30, May 30, etc.).

Here's the basic Help page which shows the fees for sellers who don't have a Store:

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/selling-fees?id=4822

As that page shows, the insertion fee is the same (free or 35 cents) for listing duration of 5 days or more, and there is a listing upgrade surcharge of $1.00 if the seller chooses a duration of 1 or 3 days.

It says near the bottom of the page what the fee will be before you click to list the item.  Got to watch that. I have had extra cost options get added when I did not select them. I caught it before listing and went back and de selected it.   That is how the five day listings could have been selected.  The .35 sounds like you used up all your free listings for the month.  You get 250 with the base account.

No need to guess.

The promotions tile in the seller hub summary shows you up-to-date counts of how many free insertions you have, how many you have used, and how many are left.

This is a common mistake.  It is NOT that you are allowed to have 250 free active listings in a calendar month.

You are allowed 250 free listing PER calendar month.

So if you sold some earlier in the month and then posted more, at some point you clearly when over you 250 free allotment.

You can easily track this in the Seller Hub in the Promotions tile.

Yep, I appreciate the reply's everyone. I certainly missed the alert telling me of the charge when submitting the listings. I do understand what happened. Thanks again.
