The past week I've been getting multiple messages from different buyers asking when I'm going to ship, and the 1 day handling time isn't even up.
In 4 years I haven't received so many harassing messages then I have this week alone.
Yesterday a buyer bought a pair of shorts from me at 6:58AM. Today he messages me at 7:25AM and asks when this item will be shipped since it's been over 24 hours!? I mean,
it's not even 8AM yet on the first business day of shipment. And I've had at least 2-3 of these messages recently in the past week. What gives?

It does seem buyers are quirky more so than usual lately. Had a buyer message me about a return and an hour later opened up the request. I have no problem with the return and would have advised him to open the return request - but they are impatient.

Such is the "Modern Buyer" ebay wants courted.
"Wham, Bam, Thank you Ma'm" seems to be the current mantra.

I believe this is because Ebay removed the seller's handling time from listings. Buyers don't know when the seller ships, so this is causing anxiety. A Blue said that the buyer can see the estimated delivery timeframe and that is all they need, but I have been noticing threads on both Buying and Selling about issues with this.
I suppose you could put something in your description about your processing time.

If they put the handling time BACK, then buyers wouldn't BE anxious that "it hasn't shipped yet". Right now all they see is eBay's guesstimate of delivery date.

I rarely ever get a shipping inquiry. Every buyer gets a thank you and shipping notice from me. Short and sweet.
Thank you for your purchase. I will get this order headed your way today, 2-9-18 via USPS Priority Package.

My listings have a little orange flag to alert buyers to the longer handling times. I wish they'd change it to red so it would cut down on the pests bothering me about Do you have my twacking number....

I agree that would probably help cut down on impatient buyers BUT even when eBay displayed the handling time, most buyer weren’t reading that section of the listing. There is one particular board that is full of posts from buyers stomping their feet and asking how to cancel because the seller isn’t shipping their item and it’s been *gasp* less than 1 business day! Its amazing how many buyers buy an item on Friday night or Saturday and flip out when it hasn’t been shipped by Monday morning!

Actually have not had the shipping inquiries - but have had the "DEMAND" people that state HOW they want their iems wrapped and packaged............and part of me is insulted, but I guess these people had past problems with sellers tossing the item in a flimsy box and it arrives broken - so I assure them - a few I send pictures to to show them how it has been packaged so they don't worry. People are a tad afraid now of Ebay.

Buying online isn't for everyone.

Yes I've had an increase of buyers asking this since the last few months (not including Christmas because we all know how those buyers generally are). I'd say I've noticed this in the last 4-5 months.
And I notice ebay doesn't show handling time only if it's less than 4 business days. If you set your handling at 4 business days or more, ebay will have a special notice below the ETA statement about your "long handling time."
